In a 50/50 Senate where Joe Manchin is your 50th vote, the only things that can be done are what he wants/is willing to do. That's just a fact of life. And the idea that you can get him to vote for things that he doesn't favor by national Democratic arm twisting is ludicrous. Him fighting against that is how he stays popular! And I don't see him flipping parties, but if you do it hard enough, you very much run the risk of losing majority status completely, and then everything is off the table.
Let Biden run again with a true progressive so when he passes in office we can see what can be done. It’d be interesting to see Cheney throw her hat in the republican ring just to get an idea on the balance of hard trumpers vs rinos in the country.
By 2024 the Supreme Court will have overturned the 2020 election, installed Trump as emperor, and Manchin/Sinema will vote against expanding the Court because the left is pushing too far left. Eat Arby’s.
Yep. Cheney would get about 3-5% But, she'd grift her way toward millions upon millions in the process.
ok cool. I feel like the repudiation of that type of logic has been pretty common, maybe just not from you.
My bar of who I’d like to see run is extremely low at this point and it starts with being under the age of 70.
We can agree that you and I have different views on what is possible and the expectations for the POTUS.
I tend to agree. Still think putting someone who will turn 82 a few weeks after the election is a recipe for a rout though.
What do we want? INCREMENTALISM! When do we want it? SOMETIME, WE DON"T REALLY KNOW! time to get really angry and take no shit
I would love to be wrong about Fetterman, but I just can't see a guy that looks, acts and dresses like him becoming president. not that I think any of those things should disqualify him or matter at all, I just think the public is programmed to look at a guy like that and think no way can he be president.
Biden is viewed as too old , a 80s Bernie w a heart attack like 5 years ago isn’t winning the nomination.
Agreed. Also, I think he would appeal to a lot of that WWC vote, but the flipside would be having to worry about depression of AA vote (he seems to struggle a little there), which even a small percentage of abstentions can make a big difference in a few swing states.
I got tired of Trump. He's a piece of shit. I didin' like Biden either, but I was ready for a change.
Fetterman is good on Twitter or whatever but the man chased an innocent black man down and pulled a gun on him. He isn’t all that great of a person
What exactly is considered "far leaning left"? Because I think if you actually want to defeat this deeply entrenched far right GOP. You have to run a heavy left leaning candidate. Corporate Dems are not the answer in 2024.
