I have two and those MFers are nuts. They hunt in a pack and one takes the high ground and the other one goes low. Both in stealth mode.
first thing I thought was the song so idk why not I know an Australian Collie named Stevie after Stevie Nicks so again even if it was after the artist idk why it would be a bad name.
Honestly, three syllable names are a lot to say every time. We have instituted a two syllable max for any name
yea it varies airline to airline. Delta is supposed to charge $95, but waive it if you have a doctors letter. Under accessibility services for your trip page, just do the TSA pet form and if flight is over 6 hours do a pet relief waiver as well. If you are flying international, a lot more complicated doing livestock customs so best to work with through your Vet for that.
My family is just a bunch of dumb weird animal lovers. My eldest daughter (who’s recently lost one of her bulldogs) has decided to foster a pup. She got this girl and she is the last person who should be fostering because it will quickly turn to an adoption lol meet Dallas a 10 month old fluffy shar pei
Meet Abbie, our new senior foster. She was abandoned with two other dogs, we're almost positive they were bred for years by some piece of shit backyard breeder and turned out when she couldn't produce anymore. She was hit by a car and showed up at the shelter with a broken leg and generally in rough shape. We pulled her the day before she was scheduled to be euthanized. The shelter posted her as 6 years old, with a broken leg; what they didn't say was she also has several bulging discs, a luxating hip, umbilical hernia, and awful teeth. We took her to the ER vet overnight just to make sure she was stable, they got fluids into her but she wasn't eating. Our vet fit her in and told us she is riddled with mammary tumors due to overbreeding, which are likely cancerous, and she is actually closer to 12 years old. The only good news is that her leg doesn't need surgery so we are letting it heal with light exercise and hoping the muscles strengthen around the hip so we don't have to do an FHO surgery. If that all happens correctly, then we have to decide if we want to put a senior dog through two complete mastectomy surgeries, and if we want to tear out all her teeth to keep the infections from probably killing her. She's starting to feel better, getting more tail wags and her appetite is improving. She may be a fospice pup, we're not sure yet, but she's a sweet girl who didn't deserve to die in the shelter. TLDR - Fuck backyard breeders and anyone who puts dogs on the street to fend for themselves.
Our puppy is turning 8 months old this weekend. He got a warning at day care yesterday that he was humping the female dogs. The woman who runs the day care said typically puppies start doing that around 8 months, its a problem by 9 months, and they can't come back until they're neutered because between months 9-12 they will just hump everything and disrupt the day care When did you guys neuter your dog? Our vet is telling us one year, not having him interact with other dogs in Nov/Dec could be pretty tough
update: my daughter obviously put in the paperwork to adopt her. Changed her name to Rika. She is only 8 months not 10. She is what is called a “flowered shar pei” I have never seen one until now. I guess it’s a less desirable color and a disqualification for akc shows but fuck them because Rika is certified 100% good girl.
My parents dog on the left, almost a rescue as she was a breeding dog (4 years old) not socialized at all and my girl on the right who is way too happy to see people and other dogs(1 years old) after a few meetings and a little rough meetings on that day, they finally were able to relax around each other
Lost this absolute king tonight. Chico was, without exaggeration, the perfect dog: smart, athletic, fun, great with people (best with little kids), running partner, farm helper... Hug your good boys and girls a little extra today. Fuck.
Spoiler Rest in peace to the best, sweetest, most somber boy of all time. Ozzie was the best dog we could have asked for, and I know his brother Opie is super pumped to have his best friend up there with him again. The 12 years we had with him were nowhere near enough, but I wouldn’t trade them for anything, even with all the hurt and pain I’m feeling now. He loved the snow and cooler weather, and we were so looking forward to moving to Colorado so he can experience it. I know he will be with us in spirit. Can’t wait till I see him again.
sorry for your loss, and i am sure he would tell you that he can wait for you to finish your life and he would wish you as much happiness as you gave him.
I wish you luck, the next few weeks won’t be fun. You will see him everywhere in the house, you won’t eat well, you won’t sleep well. Just know that it gets better
My breeder and vetsays 15-18 months. The new prevailing theory is if you wait until they’re physically developed that it has positive health benefits for dogs prone to hip issues and even cancers. The humping is annoying as my golden was trying to hump my Aussie after he got groomed for the first time. He had two days of super hyper humping and it drove me crazy. He’s been mostly fine otherwise and he is 11 months now. oh, and pics just because. He swam today for the first time.
yes, they need to be fully grown before you do it. My girl had the procedure done at 1 years old. Needed to be in heat and wait two months after that. It’s the best way according to them and I have no reason to doubt it edit- mine is a middle race dog it is earlier, the big race dogs take longer to completely grow I might be using wrong words but you will understand
We lost Opie 11 months ago, so I know how it is. You are right; it will be tough but we will make it through.
thats what our vets advised too, guess we will never know if it made a difference but was no harm in keeping his balls attached a few extra months for extra development.
It's also the risk if you cut them too soon and then they need surgery, there's no testosterone to help them recover. Happened with our labs that had hip dysplasia.
because there is a severe overpopulation issue and they can’t and probably don’t trust people to actually fix their pets responsibly
most of the time the shelter either gets a shitload of puppies or senior dogs people keep breeding them despite demand slowing down alot and then they don’t know what to do with the litter once nobody wants them
