We moved to Nashville when I was 11, but my parents still have a lakehouse in Killen. I drive through Green Hill every time I go there. Usually playing Isbell or DBT
wife's parents still live in Hunstville (along with a lot of friends). We go over lookout mountain to highway 72 to get back there from Atlanta. my wife gets tired of listening to the same thing every time we drive back.
I'm not actually from Hartselle, guys. I just know some D-Rock people who know some Hartselle people who robbed some people
From BJ's Facebook post: "I've had to replace 20+ band members over the last decade and this time, although much harder, will be no different"
I think most of that turnover was in the very beginning when it really wasn't a band, but rather bj and whoever was around at the time. The 4 core guys who just quit were all there since at least 2009.
I know the core has been around. I guess my point was BJ has plenty of practice replacing guys in the band, but that putting together a whole new backing band is a tough challenge. But, 25+ members later, if anyone can do it and keep things floating, it's BJ.
They announced the other day that Jason Isbell will be playing September 5th at the Bluestem outdoor theater right across the river in Moorhead, MN!
I just don't imagine anything in AR being enjoyable unless you're duck hunting. New Orleans, Dallas, then Rogers? woof
DBT playing in Fargo at the Sanctuary on June 11 and Isbell at Bluestem Events Center in Moorhead on September 5th!
Playlist from the show last night. Maybe the best show of theirs I've seen. http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/drive...white-oak-music-hall-houston-tx-5be6e318.html
Dawes coming to Athens but it's the night of graduation. Have a ton of family coming so skipping to ceremony is a no-go
Patterson posted this recently in one of the big Drive-By Truckers groups on Facebook, about potentially officially releasing the original Adam's House Cat album "Town Burned Down." Will be pretty cool if/when they do put it out. "Howdy. The unmixed masters are safe and in a vault. (The mixes were lost in the Tornado, but I didn't like the mixes anyway). I'm still hoping to release at some point. We just stay so busy. Thanks for the interest. My voice makes me cringe but the band was smoking."
Damn can't wait for his Red Rocks show. Think this album could be badass based on just two songs so far
He played If We Were Vampires for the first time in Chattanooga last week. That's a cool song. Three for three on new songs for me.
I must admit I'm having a bit of an issue readjusting to the new Isbell stuff - not grabbing me immediately like the last few albums. will withhold full judgement until the album is out, obviously
I don't know, man. Hope the High Road is badass and classic Isbell. Cumberland Gap is a bit of a throwback which is awesome too. As much as I love the Elephants and Speed Trap Towns of his catalog, we all probably needed a break from really somber music and lyrics.
And now that I'm thinking about it, Isbell's early albums had a lot of promise but weren't cohesive enough. But he took the elements of Streetlights/Codeine/Alabama Pines/etc. built on them and made two really thoughtful, perfect albums. Now I want to see him build on However Long/Go It Alone and made a rocker that's perfection. Early returns are extremely promising.
Dawes was pretty damn good last night. They are really good vocally. The crowd was strong considering it was a Sunday night with absolutely shitty weather. We thoroughly enjoyed it.
only 16 minutes in - but this is really fucking awesome so far update: was a mistake starting this at work... watched the whole thing. Blake Mills is a fucking genius
