yes and it wasn't great
I'm fully erect. Early visuals look incredible
I assumed that Paul was a little younger than a teenager when I read it.
I wasn't that keen on the arrangement, but I did think it was cool that Floyd was used since they were supposed to do the Atriedes music for Jodoworsky's version in the 70's
That dude was great in The King
Same with Call Me By Your Name and the vapid fake wannabe philosophizer in Lady Bird.
I forget he was the young version of the brother in Interstellar
I think Thufir's sporting a parasol at the 1:15 mark
I wonder how much exposition there is going to be ala the Lynch version
Because like 70% of the stuff will make no sense to people who haven't read the book
Yep, that’s him
This film supposedly only covers the first half of the book, so I expect they'll take their time setting up the story for the uninitiated
Usul: An Unexpected Journey
Read in high school. Debating whether to reread or to just be surprised and enjoy what I forgot.
I know it’s dumb, but my brain is struggling to not love Kyle McLaughlin more. Also, Sean Young was sexy as fuck in those scenes where her hair was down and in small braids.
give me Lady Jessica all day every day
I haven't read Dune. Not generally big on science fiction. That trailer makes that movie look incredibly intriguing though. Whoa
“Arrival” is your first science fiction film and now you are already doing another one. What are your favorite sci-fiers?
I had been wanting to do sci-fi for a very long time. “2001: A Space Odyssey” is a movie that really impressed me as a teenager. And also “Blade Runner.” And “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” is also one of my favorites. I’m always looking for sci-fi material, and it’s difficult to find original and strong material that’s not just about weaponry. A longstanding dream of mine is to adapt “Dune,” but it’s a long process to get the rights, and I don’t think I will succeed. Also I would love to write something myself. I have two [sci-fi] projects right now that are in very stages. It’s too early to talk about them.
Book Fags can eat a dick. Movie Fags are going to run this thread soon enough
It’s extremely detailed and might be tough for some to follow, depending on the screenplay. The David Lynch version actually had informational papers passed out to each moviegoer to read and reference during the film.
I’ve never read the book and love the Lynch movie.
Is this a joke?
Is the Dune TV show any good? Haven't seen it yet.
A three-part miniseries on politics, betrayal, lust, greed and the coming of a Messiah. Based on Frank Herbert's classic science fiction novel.
I thought it was okay. Better than the Lynch version.
The Children of Dune miniseries gave us James McAvoy too
Just bought, are Book II and III different acts within the actual Dune book? Internet answered my question. Nevermind.
That’s just the different acts within the book.
books two and three are Dune Messiah and Children of Dune
Question 2: as I am reading Dune, should I be looking up unknown terms and words in the glossary (gom jabbar, quasifief, kull wahad, etc) or assume they'll be expanded upon in context as I continue?
I would dog ear the Terminology of the Imperium section. You're gonna make a lot of trips there.
Chalamet is good. And the hot takes about his hair ITT are weird gripes with the trailer... most curly haired adult males in europe have that haircut.
Isn’t the Atreides family lineage traced all the way back to the Roman Empire. So Paul’s hair is fine.
House of Atreus, Greece/Mycenae
Well, hell. This turn to the history of House Atreides took me back to the book “Dune: House Atreides” and the Tleilaxu takeover of Xi and it’s description of the reality of what the Tleilaxu Tanks actually were. It remains to be one of the darkest things I have read.
Yeah, but not really, per the Brian books
Which were shit cash grabs
Are they more weird than having apparent expertise on popular haircuts for curly haired males in Europe
I liked the Old History ones abd house Atr alright
doesn't take any "expertise" just a hint of awareness on cultures outside of the united states. the kid has wavy dark hair, welcome to western europe/italy/england
I wish Paul had Bama Bangs instead.
I'd rather do the gom jabbar than read the last books
What's in those books? Pain!
Wow. That's quite the delay
What was the original release date?
Batman and Dune both releasing on the 1st
Halfway through it, never much got into sci-fi but reading the Dark Tower series last year has opened me up to the genre much more.
