He is 74 and will work out in the sun all day on the farm. He had a knee replacement this year and took like 4 Advil afterwards and 0 of the pain pills he was prescribed. We had to physically make him rest because we were worried he was going to hurt his knee because he was trying to walk and do PT earlier than the doctor told him. He is stubborn as can be and all my friends say he reminds them of Hank Hill.
he is flying up today to check in on some stuff for their house build and I was told by my wife to pick him up at the airport “around 2” today but was never given any specifics
GFA FIL posting on the main train board dot com "told my SIL I was flying in around 2pm and the nerd had to figure out exactly which flight I was on smh"
"Then he started talking about the legislation that formed the territories of Kansas and Nebraska and the values of states rights"
"every time I try and have an educated conversation with him about trains he always mentions how Hitler always had the trains running on time"
no idea. in my head it was hitler but it's possible they both had trains running on time. I bet GFA could clear this up
Famously Mussolini. The diff being that the Germans would have had the trains on schedule Hitler or no. The Italians not so much.
I took a train from Rome to Florence, and from Florence to Venice this summer. AMA about Italian train travel.
Yes. But one of the things that really threw me was that you don’t even know the platform until a few minutes before departure. So we sat there waiting to see the platform, then made a mad dash to the train. Cool experience though.
Apparently the woman next to him on the plane asked him if he was headed home to Kansas City and he said sort of, we are moving here in six weeks she goes why are you leaving Texas? and he said because we’re tired of fascist dictators
Some might only remember him as a Greek bust libertarian asking questions, but it was a natural progression.
Sounds like Mexico City airport for regional flights. They let you know your gate 5 minutes prior to boarding. It’s chaos
My father in law was diagnosed with glioblastoma 6 weeks before our wedding. He fought for 15 hard months and died yesterday. He was a great man who was better to me than I ever deserved and he will be missed dearly.
Was at in laws house on Friday and fil was grilling some chicken. I watched him take the chicken off after cooking and put in back in the bowl full of the marinade he had all the raw chicken in and start tossing it around. When I asked him what he was doing he said he always does that and helps flavor the chicken and it was marinading in the fridge so it was cold and somehow this made it safe in his mind. This guy is not a stranger to the kitchen and I have no idea how he has made it to almost 70 without killing himself. I guess he's just been playing salmonella roulette all this time and has somehow not gotten sick or has the most iron stomach, or maybe the bottle of chardonnay a night kills everything. It blew my mind.
I was expecting you to say he was going to put the chicken back on the grill, good god almighty. The times I've successfully grilled chicken, meaning it's still moist, I've aggressively checked it's internal temp with an expensive instant thermometer. Seems like a much easier way than throwing salmonella juice back on.
