Made it about 40 minutes in last night before falling asleep. Enjoying it. It is taking me 2 nights on average to finish a movie these days.
Enjoyed Furiosa. The nerd in me likes seeing young versions of random characters like Organic Mechanic.
randomly caught Unstoppable on cable tonight first time seeing it since i listened to Tarantino talk about it years ago on the rewatchable pod. it really is quite good; excellent monster movie.
Rob Peace was a very solid movie to me the one critique I would give it is that the script seemed a bit shallow and relied too heavily on some basic tropes. It could have definitely dived deeper in some of the bigger issues. A good directorial debut by Chiwetel Ejiofor and a pretty decent supporting performance by him as well, but Jay Will and Mary J Blige were by far the best performances
I've started putting on the Mission Impossible movies in the background as I work and the shift in tone between 1 and 2 is really really jarring. Like 2 almost seems like a spoof of 1
I thought 2 had the most awesome soundtrack in the world at the time with new Metallica and Limp Bizkit songs, unfortunately my taste in music has declined throughout the years
but my fucking god at that movie 10/10 no notes In the age of all of these state of the art visual and practical effects and spending an ungodly amount of money on a movie, this film takes you back to the fundamentals and the purity of just good old theater and what it means to be apart of the community and crew
Alien: Romulus 7 / 10 Prometheus/Covenant story arc fan, think the rest are okay to good, they’re all kind of the same, including this one. Solid suspense/thriller, great special effects, lots of sulfuric acid blood and guts.
My best read of Megalopolis is that Driver plays a Randian businessman with the powers of a Sim City player. Set in Rome played by near-future New York.
layer cake was supposed to be a guy ritchie movie but he couldn't do it and matthew vaughn was (I think) first AD on previous Ritchie movies so he stepped in so that's why those two have similar styles over the years and kind of have a back and forth feud with releases
saw a tiktok last night of Adam Lavine's stand up where he talks about auditioning for this flick thinking it was a baseball movie, good stuff.
need to give it another go, one of my buddies absolutely loves this movie and I came away very meh from it
