I swear once a week there's a "why don't people realize Babylon is a masterpiece" thread on r/blankies
Babylon wasn’t bad but does not hold up against Chazelles other movies which caused some disappointment.
on a little theater heater... Red Rooms Conclave Sudden Death 35mm Crash 35mm McCabe & Mrs Miller 4k Nashville 35mm The Shining Brewster McCloud 35mm
My friend has a Catholic family and they decided to watch Conclave after Thanksgiving dinner. Apparently everyone was drunk and there were some very hot takes about the twist at the end that led to a meltdown argument while my friend just sat and watched the whole thing burn down with a smile on his face sipping on his drink.
Long Kiss Goodnight is a solid thriller but Renny Harlan really doesn’t know how to direct the repartee of Shane Black characters.
Anyone seen Birdeater? Looks like something I'm gonna go in blind and watch, without watching the trailer or reading anything.
Glatiiator was….fine? I feel like it committed a lot of the same sins as the original (although it did add “woman who betrays everyone” to its previous “immediately fridges wife” and “aristocrat who does nothing except look sad at the camera”). Visually looked good (outside of CGI baboons), Denzel and Quinn good as always, Pedro good for what he had to work with, couldn’t give a damn about Mescal’s character. Bit Star Wars Sequel Trilogy feeling of “well I guess despite everything in the first movie, everything has gone to shit” and was rooting for Denzel at the end over the entrenched aristocracy. Spoiler Like…am I NOT supposed to be rooting for the formerly enslaved African who’s exposing the hypocrisy of the “enlightened” elite in the year of our lord 2024?. Kept hoping for a Djimon Hounsou cameo.
they really gave Pedro very little to work with and zero time to make what would be a catastrophically big change for a general in behavior
It appears I was correct!! While I enjoyed the movie, if you wanna watch some real Pope shit watch the TV series mentioned above.
Watched Catch 22 yesterday. What a blast. Never read the novel, but the not exactly linear structure and the fact that just about every character was insane meant you couldn't possibly guess what was going to happen next. Really enjoyed it. I feel like I would act a lot like Yossarian if I was in a war like that.
just expect a normal "stuck in the house with a monster" movie instead of an Alien movie and you'll probably enjoy it
