got tickets for The Killer next week right before it hits Netflix. thinking the theater is going to be amazingly dead
I would imagine they'll pull it when it hits Netflix. given that I could only find one theater showing it November 9th indicates it is on its way out.
Yep, gets a very short theatrical run which is totally kneecapped by the fact it will be on Netflix within a week
Anatomy of a Fall is solid, but might get lost in the mix right now with what’s out. If you like acting it’s carried by two exceptionally strong performances
I learned this weekend that my favorite movie of the 2010s is now on Netflix. No idea how long it's been there, but in case you missed it. "If you deliberately sabotage my band, I will FUCK YOU LIKE A PIG."
I went to go see the 45th anniversary re-release of The Last Waltz last night. I hadn’t seen it in a long while, but I love that movie so much. Also, it had a cool 10 minute prologue video appended with some looking back on the doc and then a small tribute to Robbie Robertson. Between that and Stop Making Sense, we’ve been very spoiled this fall with elite concert films being available in theaters
I watched it last week. So good I sat next to Miles Teller at a dinner once on Whidbey Island in Washington. His fiance at the time (wife now), was an attractive woman.
it's a very silly movie. my favorite scene is when elliot ness, a treasury agent, is incredulous to the thought that they might be able to pursue capone on tax evasion.
Didn't even know this was a movie but it is very disappointing we won't get to see all this put together
I have no idea what tax thing is going on but the idea of completely funding a film and then not releasing it and writing it off as some tax return is concerning? I have no idea if this was a point negotiated in the WGA or SAG strike but if they have to pay streaming residuals will companies just remove all old content or not even release new shows and turn them into dust?
Holdovers getting such good reviews. Not really driving me to the theaters, but I guess I should go see it.
I mean Alexander Payne is usually great, I do not know why you would not check it out. I have not seen it but I will in theaters.
I really like sideways but can’t say I have seen much else of his work unfortunately. After seeing shit like the killer and anatomy of a fall, it is obviously just a change of pace. I’ve seen Nebraska. But somehow never saw about schmidt, downsizing, the descendants, or election. latter two definitely on my home watch radar
Sideways was probably the least fav of the ones I saw of his but it was about a mid life crisis and wine tasting and I was like 18 ish or so when I saw it so maybe it holds up better now. Election, About Schmidt, the Descendants, and Nebraska all resonate with me a lot more though I have just as much in common with the characters that turned me off to Sideways when I was a teenager. Great director
It existed before the strike. They did the same to Batgirl. To answer the residuals question, that is a reason why they have been removing stuff in the past. Here are details on the new setup https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/b...-streaming-residual-will-work-1235602660/amp/
I’m happy he’s being reintegrated into Hollywood. I’m the opposite of a Hollywood doomer but I do agree that there’s a limited number of young stars. It’d be really stupid to eliminate one of them because he got fucked by Solo and then piled on by their toxic fanbase
