also there's real weird 1st half/2nd half splits with the D In the Bears, Washington, and Lions games, we got gashed in the first half and then give up just 3, 3, and 7 in the second. Looked much better each time too.
Yeah it has to do with pressure. They need to blitz early and often because the line just isn’t getting the job done.
Early in the 2nd, Aaron Jones ran 4 plays in a row, for 37 yards. He wasn't given a carry or a target again until the last drive.
1st & 10 at GB 39 (14:16 - 2nd) A.Jones up the middle to GB 47 for 8 yards (J.Davis). 2nd & 2 at GB 47 (13:42 - 2nd) A.Jones left end to DET 35 for 18 yards (Q.Diggs). 1st & 10 at DET 35 (13:01 - 2nd) (Shotgun) A.Jones left end pushed ob at DET 30 for 5 yards (J.Davis). 2nd & 5 at DET 30 (12:24 - 2nd) (Shotgun) A.Jones left tackle to DET 24 for 6 yards (G.Quin). Why
Lost in all of the Crosby mess is how often he's called upon in the first place. The offense stalls far too often when it gets to the 25.
MM comments to this today should have gotten his ass fired on the spot. Actually, no Mike, I have zero fucking idea what you are trying to do. You run Williams on 3rd down for pass routes too, so it’s not protection (and Jones has actually been good at that too). I read another tweet that has Williams forcing a missed tackle on 1 run in his 60 touches. Jones has 11 on 28 touches. I don’t know what to think. Jones runs with power, has absolutely insane cutting ability, always falls forward, and incredible balance and his initial burst is insanely good (even from a combine standpoint, he was the only one with Kamara #’s approaching his in 10 yard split). The fact he isn’t getting 20 touches a game shows the game is passing him by. Fucking dumb.
Rodgers is to be blamed for the offense as well. Guy never takes his check downs anymore when they're given. There were open guys within 5 yards of the LoS yesterday and Rodgers kept looking past them. Sure, it's led to big plays in the past, but he is trying too hard at this point. I've had enough of this stupid run a single or double move route and then go into scramble mode shit that we do. Literally tell Aaron to fuck off and get your head out of your ass. Having said that, MM or whoever is running the offense is predictable, stubborn, and probably not going to change.
What happened to the quick throws all I saw yesterday was long slow routes. Also that taunting call on crazy Tony was horse shit.
This even happens on 3rd downs when when there are guys open that easily can get the 1st but Rodgers chucks it deep. Rodgers needs to be coached and McCarthy isn't the voice to do it
I think this is where I am too. In his tenure, MM has been a good coach. Dom Capers was a very good hire at the time, our offense used to be on the cutting edge. Offensive players developed incredibly well for a real good stretch of time there. However, when you're not Belichick or Chuck Noll or whoever and you've been in the same spot for nearly 15 years, it can be tough to continue adapting and remain near the top for such a long period. tldr Mike was a good coach but it's also probably time for him to go both things can be true
I think this is spot on. I don’t think MM is a bad coach, nor do I think he still might be a very good coach someplace else, but we are talking about grown men. This isn’t college where they filter through, or you have the handle on them like a college kid. It’s probably why Bill gets rid of people at the drop of a hat, minus certain guys...guy (Brady, only Brady). Even that has come to a head. Someday MM will be retired as a Packer. But maybe its time we all went our separate ways. Hell, it probably would be good for MM to get a new shot someplace else as well.
Lastly, this MM seems to just be bullheaded on this. Time to move on. Cut ties and 10 years from now we all come back and hug and kiss it out.
It just dawned on me... We have the dumbass FO structure that McCarthy reports to Ball, not Gutekunst. We are screwed.
defense was microwaved dog shit mostly, but was p good last few minutes thank god crosby isn't permanently broken god damn at rodgers on last few drives
Cohen posed a tough question on his podcast. How many players on defense are above average players? (Based on their play this season) The only certainty is Clark Maybe on Martinez and maybe on King Definite no on both safeties, Matthews and Perry are probably right at average Daniels really hasn't produced this year
When healthy, so has Alexander. Clark is a top 5 defensive interior lineman in the nfl. That’s about it.
