My house gets zero foot traffic The road I live on has no sidewalks It's just too windy. For that I am very grateful 99% of the year. It's secluded it's quiet. But my town on Halloween It's almost a tourist attraction with the amount of kids running around. People decorate very well. Police shut down a couple blocks. A lot of people have parties on their porches and patios. And every year I fall in love with any house that has a wraparound porch. And I stare at them with their smug porches laughing and partying away. And i try and convince myself that I'm not jealous of them.
That front row is like the '27 Yankees. Swap out the purple skittles for the red and we're talking GOAT row of candy selection.
Never heard of the potato thing, must be regional, but I could definitely see myself picking that as a kid just for the memes
I went through a 450 piece bags, multiple 200 piece bags, and multiple 100 piece bags. Probably spend $175 on candy. They shut our streets down to car traffic and have police at every entrance. It's a good outing for kids, but you've gotta be well stocked. First year I thought a bag of 150 pieces would be good and ran up before 7pm
I think some kids emptied the bowl a couple times. Not mad because my wife bought way too much candy. The kids walked/rode in a wagon while I rode an electric scooter, very clutch move. I was able to jet back to the house quick to check if the bowl had emptied, pee, chug beers, as needed.
My neighborhood is lame and we get 1-2 trick-or-treaters every year. Decided to take my aunt up on her offer to bring my son to her neighborhood last night. Granted, I was expecting a good haul since she lives in a very nice neighborhood, but this place was insane. The line of cars to get through the guard gate was 30 cars deep, every house was fully decked out with crazy decorations, full size candy bars at 95% of the houses. The icing on the cake was several homeowners rented out food trucks giving away free pizza, tacos, milkshakes, etc. I have never seen so many trick-or-treaters in my life. Son had a blast, definitely going back next year.
We easily went through 2,000 pieces of Candy last night if not more. Barves2125 came over and was being very aggressive with his passing out early on.
I love Halloween, but the amount of candy you guys are giving out gives me anxiety. That's too much pressure. Luckily, we live around a bunch of olds and don't have many come by. I was too tired after chasing my 3 yo around a different neighborhood to worry about giving out hundreds of pieces of candy.
Maybe I’m turning into a grump but I saw several parents out just following their kid(s) house to house while sitting in their car. Not a fan.
Only way I could see that being acceptable is if parent is disabled. Otherwise should be about having less cars on the road to increase safety as kids are running across the street.
Made it about 26 mins and 30 houses (it was fucking cold)- my son was the only kid out in the neighborhood so ppl were just unloading their bags on him. Ppl got so excited to see him out because their just aren't kids around us (Dear America you can raise kids in the city safely) Almost entire haul was reese's and kitkats
As someone who works for a factory that certainly has cross-contact...despite our best efforts...you're making the right decision.
kids love Pokémon. We have had a lot of our middle schoolers bring and trade them. In fact I’ve had a number of issues with unfair trades or someone not following through
This makes me sad. It’s not even dark yet and these selfish adults just willingly and knowingly screwed over little kids.
No I'm sure they're great and say thank you and all that. But I just know they don't really understand how good they have it with that spread. I would have killed to roll up to a house like that as a kid. We had one, maybe two, full size candy givers that I can remember but there was never options.
I can’t find them by the bulk unfortunately where it makes sense. Maybe next year I’ll try and find a candy wholesaler
Ah. Yeah there’s something hopefully for everyone and we found packs that didn’t have the almond hersheys this year which no one ever takes. I will say we have a great neighborhood though. We thought one of our dogs got out years ago as a puppy, but was really just stuck in a closet. We have over 100 people and kids out looking in the rain and dark for her for almost two hours. The kids around here are great and my son and his friends terrorized the neighborhood relentlessly and no one ever said shit.
But for real, good on you for going to the effort to be the full size candy house I remember seeing the dad on some TV show years ago telling his wife he wants to be the house that passes out full size snickers. It struck me as something so wholesome, the just wanting to be that house.
Have a giant cooler full of about 5 Costco bags just sitting on the porch with a sign that says "Take a couple handfuls"
Yall some OCD mfers. But it looks great so keep up the good work. This is my first year with no kids trick or treating. Also we don't get kids where we live because we aren't in a neighborhood
