Could be, but they're not going to have an issue finding actors who want to be in something as popular as HP.
well there is a reason they are redoing and recasting everything and not doing any kind of sequel. the original cast is keeping their distance.
also you can’t do any redoing of the books of the kids are in their 30s and half of the adult cast are dead
Considering how bad fantastic beasts has become I don't think WB has any interest in new HP content right now. If another new series or movie tanks it continues to lower the value of the brand they own. That's why they're going back to the proven successful books. If this series does well then they'll probably explore sequels or prequals.
I just don’t think Emma or Rupert have much interest in acting at the moment and Daniel just won a Tony so he doesn’t really need HP anymore
ehhhh. Emma Watson retired from acting Rupert Grint is smoking all the pot he can find and doing TV when he feels like it and Daniel Ratcliffe is following his passion in theatre. Not sure there is a real link between sequels and hatred of JK.
I was just going off of Snakes reasoning of why the OG actors didnt want to join in this new version tbh
this. WB can't afford another big swing on HP that doesn't land. Go with the tried and true method, get the ball rolling again, then do the Marauders or something.
a studio (especially WB) not being about to afford another swing and miss on an IP is far from a guarantee they don't have another swing and miss.
There are no sequels because there is nothing worth making a sequel of. JK’s post original series Harry Potter books have been meh to bad.
Nothing is a guarantee. But the chances of success are a lot higher with turning a beloved book and movie series into a tv show versus making a tv show with a completely new story.
Until someone other than Rowling controls the IP there won’t be anything other than this. there is so much potential. A new series of the books doesn’t excite me even a little and I’ve read the books like 40x each
I mean are there any? Cursed Child is a play that she didn't write and fantastic beasts was just poorly conceived from the start.
I watched all the fantastic beasts a few time and the only part I enjoyed was the like 90 seconds in the last one when they’re at hogwarts
The first movie was great. It should have remained a stand alone movie. But then it morphed into a series about Grindelwald and it became a convoluted disaster.
I really don't think the franchise has that much potential for expansion. It's a very small world in terms of the world building. The more you zoom out from the 7 plots the more it unravels. It's a good thing those seven stories are all-timers. But beyond that, it'll be slim pickings.
I think you can do more, it just needs to stay centered around hogwarts. No reason a marauders story or something about the founders couldn’t work.

I will say, I am excited about the potential that the new show offers, but it will be bitter sweet watching them. I grew up with the books and read them as they came out. The movies were shortly after and I just always connected the movie characters to the book characters. Sucks to see some of the actors and actresses passing away, and then soon replaced for an entire generation.
yes; 7 seasons; each season will cover one of the books i've read each of the books at least 20 times. so like top 1% of harry potter fans. and this doesn't excite me at all.
it's just so lazy and a blatant money grab. if they were doing a prequel or a sequel i would be counting down the days.
it’s like how Star Wars is incapable of not tying everything back to the Skywalkers. There’s so much more to explore with the right creatives, but they’re terrified of taking risks.
