Man, I really wanted 666MrDoom to work out for me, but there's just no variety at all with his uploads Sucks so damn hard that SMOD ended up being such a piece of shit
Amon Amarth is mediocre enough these days, but now we have all these poor mans Amon clones popping up everywhere, so nauseating.
It's been a shitty last few days for new album listening, and this new Khemmis EP isn't helping the situation at all.
that Uada song was fairly underwhelming, almost poppy. this is coming from someone who likes that band a lot.
recent events have made me reevaluate the bands that have the honor of adorning my battle jacket. i will be making some changes that probably should have been made a long time ago. out: Drudkh Mgla Agalloch Taake in: Revocation Rivers of Nihil Sulphur Aeon Bolt Thrower my vest has much less black metal now, which is probably my favorite genre, but i cannot support or be associated with that type of shit in any manner. fuck those bands and their actions for even making this a consideration.
I'm familiar with the Mgla debacle, know enough about Taake not to give them attention, what did the other two do?
i envy Heavy Mental for having a battle jacket usually i just wear whatever i normally wear (ie tennis shoes, jeans, polo shirt) when i go to shows
the low end isn't as washed out. but it's probably not going to change how you feel about that sound the production reminds me of this band that i first heard on the legendary radio FENRIZ
I'm sure I've brought this album up before, but god damnit, it's so good. Listened to the whole thing on the way home from camping the other day, made me inadvertently drive 90 mph at some parts. RIP
Almost halfway through 2020, here's my current Top 5 AOTY contenders (in no particular order). Xibala - Anos en Infierno Pomona, CA hardcore-influenced brutal death metal with pre-Columbian Mesoamerican lyrical content In The Company Of Serpents - Lux Denver, CO fresh-sounding sludge/doom/post with strong Neurosis vibes; very memorable songwriting Wake - Devouring Ruin Calgary, AB excellent songwriting, accessible and yet unrelentingly harsh death/grind Ulcerate - Stare Into Death And Be Still New Zealand crushingly dense death metal, an undercurrent of weird melodies - standout musicianship Spectral Lore/Mare Cognitum - Wanderers: Astrology of the Nine Athens, Greece/Portland, OR staggering scope and composition, cerebral atmospheric black metal soundtrack to the cosmos
i appreciate this. for whatever reason i haven't had the same desire to find new stuff over the past 3 months as i usually do. i did listen to Death's Individual Thought Patterns about 50 times though
Yes, their previous work was just too complex and dense for me. Always appreciated them as a band, just weren’t for me. This album changed that.
i respect the idea and aesthetics of Bell Witch more than i actually like their music. just too slow for me most of the time. i will check out their new release though.
a band that needs to be on your radar is Inexorum, from Minnesota. they play melodic black metal in the vein of Sacramentum, Dissection and (more recently) bands like Vanum, Wayfarer, and Uada. they share members with Obsequiae, another awesome melodic black metal band (also Minnesota-based). they just released a new record:
Need an album, they didn't sound the same throughout their career. And why do you want a clone anyway?
