i thought this was cool for them
play more accessible music, get more streams i guess?
Sweven - The Eternal Resonance is a release that I learned about from that list (it's #7).
It's very proggy death metal. reminds me of early Cynic in a lot of ways. i really like it.
Music is really good.
Vocals are a really bad fit, in my opinion.
oh hell yeah
Vektor announced a Europe tour
Butthead will be seeing them if they tour this part of the world
So dude found people that will work with him?
I was pretty underwhelmed by 2020's metal offerings. With that being said, here are my top 5 albums:
5. All them Witches - Nothing as the Ideal
4. The Ocean - Phanerozoic II
3. Elder - Omens
2. Spirit Adrift - Enlightened in Eternity
1. Intronaut - Fluid Existential Inversions
listen to this years Ulcerate album. meaningfully heavier than most on that list but you might like it if you appreciate The Ocean at their heaviest.
I definitely will. My taste skews proggy, generally, but I usually prefer way heavier stuff than I posted. I just didn’t hear anything particularly heavy that stuck with me this year.
I’ll listen to that album for sure.
I haven’t heard many bands that produce music as layered as them. Not sure if it counts as proggy, but it’s definitely unique.
super dense, choking atmosphere, and their drummer is a monster, not because of speed, but because of timing.
i hope this campy music video didn't turn people off from this album. this is my favorite riff (solo, maybe?) of this year. it's been ringing in my head for a couple of weeks
The fact that your first video is disabled may have had more to do with it.
that album is solid stoner riffing. nothing more, nothing less
i never really got into anthrax but this is a solid cover. i wish they had used this lineup for something else though
Anthrax sucks. The weakest of the big four. Hot garbage. Duran Duran is better than Anthrax.
They should have never been in "The BIG Four". Overkill is much more deserving, imo
I always thought they got lumped into the big four to make thrash seem more national and not just a California thing (especially Bay Area).
Testament, Exodus, Death Angel, Overkill, and Sepultura are more derserving than Anthrax. Sepultura should get more respect for their earlier work.
Don't forget burnttatertot's favorite band Voivod
don't disagree, but i think Sepultura is out since the "Big 4" is US-bands.
internationally, there's another Big 4 of thrash, from Germany: Destruction, Kreator, Sodom, and Tankard.
I don’t disagree. I certainly listen to all of those more than Anthrax. Just a guess at rationale for why they got the nod
it should really be Testament instead of Anthrax.
fucking links not working.
exodus and destruction overrated
what about flotsam and jetsam
doomsday for the deceiver is great
Only Znowhite and Sabbat are real.
I stand by my 1980-1990 top 10 thrash list:
1. Sabbat "Dreamweaver"
2. Deathwish "Demon Preacher"
3. Vendetta "Go And Live... Stay And Die"
4. Metallica "Ride The Lightning"
5. Znowhite "Act Of God"
6. Artillery "By Inheritance"
7. Powermad "Absolute Power"
8. Testament "The Legacy"
9. Agony "The First Defiance"
10. Kreator "Coma Of Souls"
Your list reminds me of other old school albums I used to listen to like Heathen, Destruction and Possessed.
BTW I knew a guy that wasn't really a "friend", but he was certainly someone that I've partied with and he even got me a job at his Uncle's ATV dealership when I was 17. Anyway, he killed his parents and his sister, put them in the trunk of their car and just drove around town for 3 days blasting Possessed and Venom with the bodies in the trunk.
Recently came across this band. They are a fun listen with some catchy songs. Their live shows seem like a great time.
new Vektor single
finally clicked on a Jinjer youtube recommendation, some live session with a verse I was digging until it swerved me with a generic cookie monster chorus and I couldn't stop laughing
shit has 44 million views :/
edit: oh lord I just clicked on a couple more songs, how is this band so popular (rhetorical, I know why this band is so popular)
It's because we didn't listen to what Exodus told us in the 80's and kill the posers.
stupid band name and i think they might have listened to Tool a little bit, but i enjoyed this
listening to this again. the riffing is sick as usual but idk about the vocals. definite early james hetfield vibe, but with way more meh
6 year old girl with her own rendition of a Sepultura classic
Absolutely adorable, but please don't ever call Roots a classic again.
It's time to continue my christmas tradition of getting ripped and listening to new releases til the wee hours of the morning. I cannot be held responsible for anything I say on the forum for the rest of the night.
to be honest, I, too, finally gave in and started clicking on SMOD recommendations again, but I'll be damned if I'm gonna sit here and let you claim that Godzilla in the Kitchen is a stupid band name
New Persuader is excellent!
i gave it a ~year, and SMOD still has the best uploads
my philosophy is I just don't give him likes and the bands that I end up digging deserve my money
oh no, you fucking say it.
have to be honest if it's more shit talk about Godzilla's cooking skills we're gonna have a problem here
My notifications said he quoted something of mine. If he's shit talking Persuader I need to know.
i still like this about a month later
Feels like I'm deaf in one ear after last night. Only way to remedy this is to get high again and blare some shit. Same rules apply, not responsible.
