i'm reading the this thread right now http://bb.bravewords.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=153287 it's pretty funny
One thing I like about MA over BWBK is you can view old posts going back for years. BWBK only goes back a couple months and everything else gets purged.
Grossly overlooked debut, but does boast of an average rating of 92% on Metal Archives. Signed to Elektra a year before Metallica, multiple songs on this album were written and demo recorded in '81 and '82. Personal favorite is track two, 'Metal Church'.
No idea. Hadn't heard them before. I made a Spotify list with the top 25ish records on this list and have been listening to it on shuffle. Good stuff.
Just now listening to the eternal champion. This is my kind of shit right here. I get a bit of Savatage vibe with some of those high pitched yells.
Anybody listen to Car Bomb? They released an album last fall that I missed, but just started listening to. I'm a fan so far. This is about as close to metalcore as I can go. I think they're doing Meshuggah better than Meshuggah did last year.
I can do some metalcore, some Meshuggah, but you combine the two and I'm lost. I'm not the expert on metalcore though so I'll defer to AIP
I'm with you for the most part on metalcore. If it's super proggy, I can dig it, but it gets really old to me quickly. I don't think this will be a life changer album, but it's interesting enough for a couple spins.
To me Eagles of Death Metal is like if you took a lamer version of every band Josh Homme has been in and combined them. Jesse Hughes also seems like a douche bag. I think I paid $30 before fees to see Mastdon, Gojira, and Kvelertak a few years ago. In terms of their playing, Mastodon is probably the best band I've seen live. No one in that band can sing, though.
Fun fact, the reason the band is called that is because Homme and Hughes were having a conversation about actual death metal. Someone brought up Vader, and said they were "like The Eagles of death metal." They thought that was funny, so then they called the band that.
what are y'all listening to? i've been spinning Mithras' album, On Strange Loops. it's highly progressive death metal, but with a ton of Morbid Angel influence.
They've been discussed in this thread before. New album is solid. Really, really heavy. Has that abrasive, grindcore-ish sound in some songs.
Not gonna look for the prog thread for one question. Joe_Pesci might you have any recs for bands similar to Thank You Scientist?
is there a woman involved? i recently reclaimed my modest collection of music. i thought that we could celebrate with
Jordan Rudess from Dream Theater thinks that these are good albums featuring the most metal instrument: the keyboard https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/new..._amazing_keyboard_albums_you_never_heard.html
Anyone have a presale code they want to lend me? http://ironmaiden.com/news/article/...f-souls-tour-returns-to-north-america-in-2017
I might even before that Elder/Intronaut night As a side note, Lord Dying played like a 15-20 minute mini opening set before the first time I saw Ghost. They had the stage presence of a nervous karaoke singer. At one point, the drummer tried to pump up the 40 people who were there early enough to see them, and the crowd laughed lol.
