Yeah, it would be soul crushing to fulfill your dream of being a contestant then having to go against a Matt, James, Austin, etc. and be out of it before double jeopardy even starts.
He was fist pumping after wagering 1500.00 on a daily double. If he wasn’t a bitch, he probably would have won.
It seemed like they set up a trap to try to get him to lose. Both of those players were quick, young, and smart. Agreed that Matt had the guts to make the big plays, but the producers definitely put out a tough pair against him. Also, most of the dailys were in the easier clues.
Damn just checked the Jeopardy history for wins/total money and didn’t realize Matt is just half way to catching Jennings. But at Holzhauer. Forgot just how much he would win each game. 2.4 million in just 32 wins.
Pretty good opponents today. Starting to feel bad for these people getting railroaded. I think it would be fun if they brought the highest scoring players back in some capacity to have another go at it
I read that Matt's inevitable loss would be spoiled online well before it happens. I had no idea he lost until I spoiled myself by clicking on this thread. DAMNIT
Kinda sucks to be the person who beat him but didn’t actually win the game. Good story for parties though.
I don't think it was that, he just couldn't pull answers tonight. He missed more questions tonight than he would in a week. Looked like his brain was exhausted
I can understand that considering they film like 4 to 8 a day when they are filming. It probably gets hard when you are on hour 2 and 3 to stay sharp
Maybe they did. But he had plenty of chances and just didn’t answer them correctly. And I thought tonight was a particularly easy game. That final jeopardy question? Poland? Really?
That's an all-time bad beat in the history of humanity. The one person who beat Jeopardy!'s second-longest winner ever, but didn't even win your game.
I read an interview where he said he got sharper as the day went along. So the fact that it was the first show of the day probably worked against him.
that was the first post-Mike Richards era episode. i think he cursed Matt on his way out. it's the only explanation
The other two had game and answered more questions than most of his opponents usually do. They also kept all three dailys away from him.
