The biggest winner here is Zion. He will no longer be the most embarrassing thing in New Orleans sports.
I feel like we've been hearing that the Saints are in cap hell for the last decade. There are so many ways to manipulate it there isn't a need to reset imo. We had an incredible defense this year and despite Jameis' shortcomings we're probably an 10-11 win team this year if he doesn't get hurt, and that's with a grab bag of nobodies at receiver. I don't think there's a need for a reset. Find a serviceable QB in free agency, draft one that you think is the next starter, Mike comes back next year and we ride. The division is going to be wide open with the Panthers a mess, the Falcons being forever losers, and a retooled Tampa Bay.
I don't know enough about it to comment intelligently - but I have now heard on two different ESPN programs that we supposedly have "the best cap manipulator in the league"
ow for sure, loomis is great in that stuff. Still it means you cant really spend beyond the cap, like theyve did in the last few years of the brees window. Id love to kill that overhang and free hands to build once we hit on a QB
Really don't need to worry about the cap - you can kick the can down the road a few more years and the cap will continue to grow very quickly. Don't recall when but read an article some time ago about when the new TV deal kicks in with the 17th game, and expanded playoffs cap will rise even quicker.
Who could’ve ever seen this coming I think this is a contract year, he’s going to have to learn to play through it or he’s going to cost himself a shit ton of money next offseason.
Thomas is dead until proven otherwise. It's been almost 2 years since he's been an impact. Coincidentally the same amount of time as he signed that ludicrous contract!
We converted a lot of salary this year to bonus, and didn't really need the cap space - so I'm hopeful that means the team trusts his foot to not be mangled. Will be happy when I actually see him on the field running routes again.
I'm thinking very long and very hard about a trip featuring a Fulham v Newcastle Saturday followed by Saints v Vikings Sunday, but won't make a final decision until much closer to October
My flight from dc was 700 so not terrible. Was able to secure tix a min ago and they were 77 pounds each whatever that is in dollars. Haven’t gotten a hotel/air n b yet but so far it has been somewhat reasonable imo
The ticket pricing has absolutely skyrocketed. Taffy - is it normally like this? This is basically looking like a honeymoon expense at this point and a bunch of the hotels have no availability. How was the last London game?
FYI to get the price that I did you had to go through pre sale for season ticket holders only. Unfortunately it looks as though many season ticket holders bought to simply put on stub hub to turn a profit (cocksuckers iyam)
Actually right now looking at stub hub they’re not too bad. Starting at 120 pounds. I don’t know the conversion rate though and apparently I paid over 5 grand for one ticket
Yea but it was like 33 a couple days ago I thought. Four Seasons is rocking 1300 GBP for a basic room. Ritz doesn't even have availability.
How the London NFL games have been - if you or your friends haven't been to one - apologies for wrangling you into this discussion.
No worries. No, I've never been. To each his own, but if I was to travel a significant distance across the world it would be to take in something I couldn't get at home.
https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.c...payton-to-dolphins-chargers-cowboys-for-2023/ Gruden got two 1sts and two 2cds. We should at least get three 1sts for Payton
Really isn't a setback or anything with Thomas & Davenport - more a roster management move until they're full go. They can come off PUP at anytime. If he isn't practicing in a few weeks then time to be worried again, but he's looked fine running routes and cutting lately. Davenport - dude is so injury prone, but should be good to go - think it's just the finger he ha amputated. If Davenport can ever play a full season he's going to be a stud, just can't stay on the field.
After he retires from football Jameis will probably go on to become the first multi-billionaire evangelical Christian priest of his own mega-church. hopefully he’ll make Joel Osteen go broke in the process
It's who he was in high school and college. The question from a lot of us who followed his career at FSU was would that connect with NFL athletes or would he be laughed out of the locker room?
I get the impression with the saints is they enjoy his goofy personality, but it has a lot to do with he is supposedly one of the hardest working guys in the team. So even though he’s corny, they respect him
He was always a hard worker both at FSU and the Bucs. Sounds like his personality is a good fit on the Saints.
