yeah I think that will do it and not to be that guy but idk if I believe a 14 yo should be tried as an adult. It is not a hill I’ll die on or argue but it just seems wrong.
Want to know how a 14 year old got access to a gun, and want to know a fucking motive Long before we discuss how he is to be charged. My instinct says lock his parents up for life but we need more context
This is such a multilayered problem with gun control, gun culture, mental health but wake me the fuck up when a woman does one of these.
One of my old neighbors and my dads golf buddy was one of the teachers shot. He’s been a football and golf coach forever at 3-4 schools around there. He got shot in the foot and hip and it shattered his hip. Shit sucks man
Cool. Put the dad on trial for the murders as well. The gun and ammo manufacturers should be right there next to them.
Parents should abso fucking lutely get whatever manslaughter/murder charges can be supported. My guess is that’s 5-10 years in prison even though they should do 25.
Makes sense. Since we obviously shouldn't remove weapons of war from the reaches of kids to use at will in school shootings, America needs to do what it does best and drone-bomb the hell out of them.
The shootings happen inside the schools in most cases, how is air surveillance going to stop that? Any excuse to use weapons of power, vs removing weapons. Neat country.
yes but if you compare that to the number of people who weren’t shot and also survived it’s clear that guns aren’t the problem
we get ~monthly “air support” courtesy of richland county sherriff’s department at my school. basically a helicopter that circles us and the neighboring high school around dismissal. usually when something has popped off recently in the community. these schools mostly serve students facing extreme poverty so it’s huge waste and a constant reminder of our fucked priorities.
Iirc like 40 people went to the hospital. All weren't shot so the dumbass wanted to clarify that all 40 weren't "gun related" bc apparently being injured running from someone with a gun isn't gun related.
All this praying and nothing is happening. It’s almost like us humans are in control of our actions and the inaction is the work of the devil. We want our cake and to eat it too
Think he probably just means there are modern countries that allow gun ownership, but the restrictions are tough and they don’t deal with this shit like we do. Unlike here where it’s 8:14 in the morning I can walk out my door drive to Academy Sports and have a gun and ammo within the next 20 fucking minutes. Which is insane
You can own guns legally in Japan, but they have an extremely low rate of gun violence, because they take it seriously
You have to pass a written test and interview by a safety commission to get a license to own a firearm in Japan. You have to have a license for an air gun.
"This is why select teachers that are comfortable need to start having lock boxes with guns in their desks. I am not saying that it would prevent every death in the school, but maybe a few less deaths." -Facebook user Buddy G., Parts Specialist at MacQueen Emergency Solutions
Does having strict gun regulations make gun ownership illegal? I don’t think so. I think it makes gun ownership legal, but regulated, perhaps even well-regulated. So I’m with IV on this and think what he said is accurate.
