indeed desperately trying to fit in with the cool generation is more transparent than Ted Cruz trying to fit in with Indiana basketball fans
Pretty sure that's the GenX generation in the 90s having the lowest participation rate in the last 35 years.
Tad ironic since he’s in here begging for a participation trophy. But we shouldn’t expect anything else from the literal participation trophy generation.
Terrible generation yet any policy that has crippled our future was created by the generations before us. I also feel like that “attention deficit” statement is fallacy. Millennials get things done at a faster rate, which gives us more time to fuck off. It’s almost like we were bred to be highly efficient humans, yet are being shackled by the laziness and greed of every generation before us.
Might be wrong but seemed like the stakes were pretty high in 2016, and the availability of information and mechanisms to register and go vote much clearer. For a generation that reads so much, millennials sure didn’t seem to care what happened at the ballot box in 16.
92 looks pretty similar to 16. Seems like the stakes of having a known racist and authoritarian on the ballot in 16 should have motivated more people to vote. I guess the younger folk were too busy rereading Harry Potter.
We’re all very sorry that we didn’t do enough to prevent you from touching the hot stove. We’ll undoubtedly do much better in the future, especially when you cum guzzlers are dead.
It's lower. Sorry. Lmao 1 put 5 5 years above 40% and yet to chastise a c Generation consistently above it
The people you should be mad at are 1) white male 50+ no degree, 2) white women who voted R despite seeing all of Trump’s history and 3) your peers that didn’t exercise their franchise.
Cool. I voted for Clinton in 92 and then went to the inauguration on the Mall. It was a fucking fantastic experience and party. While in 16 the same bracket were too busy playing Xbox or crying about not being excited by the choices, and then instead having an inauguration experience they were left with posting sweet memes about crowd size comparison pics.
Am I missing something, or is 2016 arguably tied for second highest turnout for younger generation on that graph?
That’s an incredibly broad generalization dude and there’s really zero evidence to back It up. That generation will have its awesome people, its shitheads, its lazy people, etc. just like every generation before and after it.
As Harry Potter taught us, love is the strongest force of all...but sometimes the Dolores Umbridges of the world must necessarily be punished by getting repeatedly raped by horse cock.
You are straddled with 10x more debt than your prior generation bc Boomers are greedy and cut funding to public education. "Quit being victims" Lmao go fuck yourself
Just one example, but igen faces some unique issues compared to prior gens. https://www.theatlantic.com/amp/article/534198/
Well it’s all in the past. The focus now needs to be on activating everyone to get out in 18 and get as many Rs out as possible. No excuses for a less than record midterm turnout across the younger gens.
Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. What will the millennials do when they're 60 years old and have all the money and power? Be more benevolent? Seems doubtful. It's sort of like how some idealistic congress person gets elected and sent to Washington, then when they get there they find out oh I can't just act radically different like I said then they decide to go along with business essentially as usual
We've (the board) discussed this before, I think there will undoubtedly be some regression to the mean but I have a hard time believe (or maybe hope) that we will forget all the terrible shit done these past few decades. I especially think as the world's climate continues to change that we'll only be further motivated to try and seek to elect people who will enact policies that will protect it. Maybe that will be too late, but the climate and healthcare are two issues that aren't going to improve overnight after this administration is finally over.
All that means is their generation will face unique circumstances, just like every generation before them.
It’s the acceleration of technology and the escape velocity away from what it means to be human. It’s a bit more consequential than what the last few gens have faced.
It’s certainly unique. I can’t imagine what it’s like to be in the trenches of wwi. That was pretty damn crazy and consequential for people who grew up in the late 1800s This entire mindset is what pisses me off about the term “greatest generation.” If we had to go to Europe and beat hitlers ass we would do it. We are no different from them. The circumstances we face are the only difference.
Yeah, was about to say...how about look at people that are about to retire and to ppl at a max of 35 years old
world war 3 will happen before i need to retire, leading to the destruction of every government and major city, which paves the way for zefram cochrane to make his warp flight some years later that attracts the attention of vulcans passing through the system, leading to the creation of the united federation of planets
if ryan gets his college dream of gutting social security/medicare, eliminating housing assistance programs etc we'll get to go back to that great early 20th century world where the homeless rate among old people is catastrophic
Yeah. I have a whole lot of student loans so everything extra goes to paying that down. Anything I'd put in a retirement account wouldn't collect interest fast enough to offset the student loan interest that's collecting. I'm not broke, manage finances well, and I have a plan. It just doesn't involve an IRA or 401k in the next two years.
Unless you have the most ridiculous student loan rates then the market return will easily beat the interest you're paying. You should have a retirement account
