This is why white male grievance bothers the shit out of me. Black folks don’t need to find shit to be bothered by, and it’s weird Caucasian’s need to make up reasons.
Worst yet, when black men or women complain about having to defend and justify their existence those white male will wave away those complaints.
I love this board and I think most of the kats on here are good dudes. With that said I think learned behavior is a bitch to discard. I don’t know how to properly explain what I mean. But, I see that in situations like these it’s easy for certain people to if not excuse them outright but at the very least try and find a reason why it might have happened. To try and minimize the situation or the impact. I said it awhile ago and I’ll say it again it’s truly exhausting being a POC in America. You feel like you have to be on guard every second of the day.
These posts make me so sad to read and I truly had hope for these upcoming generations, but according to my son his generation is awful. Incredibly racist and divisive and the amount of hate spewed at school and on social media is disgusting. Humans are a pretty awful species.
To be clear I’m not saying everyone on here or even the majority. I just think a couple things come into play when someone does it. 1. Learned behavior are difficult to overcome. I’m not talking straight up hard R racism but subconscious prejudices. The thoughts that you’ve been taught that “if you see something say something” and maybe that person saw something that was quite right (not simply the color of the person’s skin). 2. A desire to believe that white people are as racist as they are painted out to. Again not all white people. The ones who push back do it because they (imo) feel like is an indictment on them when it’s not. White people have been taught certain things and even those who don’t take advantage of them still (directly or unconsciously) benefit from them. All you can do is try and make your son a better person and hope he follows the lessons you teach him.
When I click it, it takes me to the app. I’m wondering if it’s a formatting issue with the board itself. Mix
Oh for sure. He’s a good kid and not a piece of shit. His daycare was a home daycare run by the most amazing family of color. He grew up with such an understanding of culture from one of their daughters being into interpretive dance and AA studies, to their grandsons rap and hip hop dance careers. He still spends time with them a couple times each summer but between the ages of birth and 5 he spent more time with them than us probably. The assistant was a Polynesian woman who was also amazing and brought a lot of the poly culture to them as well. He was blessed unlike a lot of children that are never shared the special aspects of so many cultures. It was also pretty cool because they were such leaders in the communities they served that when Obama was running for the presidency he actually stopped by and spent time with them and the kids. I know it is different than a lot of the crap unfortunately way too many go through but I feel lucky that he was offered such an amazing early childhood.
it is a tweet saying: I'm not being petty, shes being petty. In fact shes being... Tanya Petty." Several posts latter we learn, Game warden Karen has lost her job as a massage therapist
I made habit of hoping the fence to the neighborhood pool after close until they finally just gave me the key. It’s a shame that the shortages nationally of lifeguards have led to children not being able to be children in the summer especially in urban areas. Chicago proper has so many park district pools closed it’s crazy.
The HOA getting involved. They are upset their racism is being exposed. Maybe stop fucking with someone because of the color of their skin and he’ll stop recording and posting the videos.
Absolutely incredible that he tries to blame this man for that woman being fired “with a big mortgage.” Thank God for camera phones or they would’ve been perfectly happy for her to get away with her racist BS.
“Human error” would explain why she would’ve typed AR for Arizona instead of Arkansas, but she typed AZ for Arkansas? There’s no Z in Arkansas. She’s a fucking idiot and almost got someone hurt or worse.
I randomly watched all of this guys insta videos. That neighborhood is full of old elderly racist white families. He talked to multiple people that have been harassed for fishing while black despite living there for 10+ years.
the face being covered is some bullshit. fuck that cop. *amongst all the other worse bullshit in the video
Seems like that shouldn't be legal. IDK cops shouldn't be able to hid themselves. What's more, we all know 99% of police refused to wear masks during covid, so it's not like that is for her/the public's protection. What's more again, lmao at her thing blue flag bandana ACAB
It’s awesome how the reason she has her hand on her gun is in case he runs off from getting a ticket for running a stop sign. Like that’s completely justified as a response in that cop’s mind.
I feel like she would have said even more ridiculous shit if the guy filming didn’t keep talking over her. Sometimes you’ve got to just let the racist lady ramble.
How dare you say this is a racist country. Show me one time where blacks haven’t gotten a fair shake…
I'm really interested in learning more about how this happens. 95% or more loans are underwritten by a computer system. It's not a human going through the file. I read one article and it said credit score wasn't something CNN took into account so that could explain it, but then you quickly get into how much credit score is a fucking scam. I have no clue what the credit score avg is per race but if there's a large gap that could explain it. I just do mortgages daily and idk how ravce could lead to an approval difference in files when it's all done by an algorithm. Like you hit a button and it approves or doesn't.
The article does mention “available cash deposits” as an important factor and that is an area that is going to perpetuate current and historical discrimination. Also, when racists design algorithms, their algorithms are also racist.
The article mentions credit score, but it’s a NFCU representative stating that their decisions are based on more than just credit scores. They however refused to provide any details on what goes into making these decisions.
I need to read more about it. If it's deals they are doing with their own capital with their own manual Underwriting, that opens up a load of questions. If its Fannie, Freddie, FHA, VA, USDA loans, they all have their own auto Underwriting systems in Desktop Underwriter or LPA. It's not the CU or the loan officer making the decision. Sometimes it's frustrating bc you can structure a file a million ways and the system just won't approve it. As loan officers, their systems don't tell us exactly what it doesn't like. We're left in the dark and can try to restructure to bring DTI or LTV below thresholds we think it may want but it just says "file is denied bc risk threshold is too high." It'd be so much easier for us if it just said "bring DTI down from 45 to 43" so we knew to pay off a couple credit cards but we don't know what it doesn't like so we're left just spending an hour playing with the structure of the loan any way we can trying to get it to work. But sometimes we just have a loan that looks like it should work but the system denies it and we're just left shrugging our shoulders. There's decades of racist lending so I don't doubt that it continues. I just do it daily so I'm curious how it's still happening today when everything is so automated now. My best guess is the CU has credit overlays on top of conv/fha guidelines and the bullshit that is credit score leads to shit like this.
Fair. In this case we all use the same algorithm, Desktop Underwriter and LPA, so there's still something causing their numbers to be so different than other lenders. Kinda rooting for a lawsuit so it comes out in discovery what led to it. Like I said last night, I think it's likely they have a credit score overlay above the minimum from the depository. Like FHA/VA will approve all the way down to 500 in some situations if LTV and DTI are in good shape and there's no late payments in the last 24 months on housing but some lenders require a 580 minimum on FHA. And when you look at median credit scores, you can see where that causes an issue. The credit score algorithm is so flawed, putting a huge emphasis on it creates issues and creates large approval rate gaps between races.
Really really really want to know how the first one was denied. They sound like the ideal client. Second one seems solid too if she didn't change jobs like a week before applying. https://www.cnn.com/2023/12/18/business/class-action-lawsuit-navy-federal-invs/index.html The lawsuit – filed by multiple law firms, including that of civil rights attorney Ben Crump – details the stories of two named plaintiffs whose mortgage applications were denied by Navy Federal: · Cherelle Jacob, a 40-year-old Black resident of Washington state, and her husband, who is in the armed services, together “make approximately $200,000 in salary, have no debt, have ample savings, and both have ‘exceptional’ credit scores above 800,” according to the complaint. The suit says Jacob and her husband sought a mortgage from Navy Federal in October 2023 “to support the purchase of a modest family home” and were denied, before being approved by another lender. · Laquita Oliver, a 44-year-old Black resident of Miami Dade County, Florida, works as a capital improvement project analyst and had previously co-owned a small business. According to the complaint, “she makes approximately $100,000 per year in salary, has good credit, a history of home ownership, and very little debt.” After a month-long process, her mortgage application was denied.
