Likewise, I can get one right now in PA for $50 + tax + $12 shipping to me. Not sure which batch, though.
Stagg out this week in Ohio so didn’t plan on going out since it’ll be crazy. Drove by last night to see if anyone camping overnight and saw this amazing sign so decided to come out 7th in line so won’t get it but fingers crossed for something else good
Yeah its definitely a 2 part answer. Yes it's the going rate, no I would not pay it. Prices are getting out of control and I have scaled back immensely on what I buy.
Yeah I passed. Just got a Stagg on Tuesday for $70. Was hard to convince myself a seven year was worth over 4x
If any of y'all are Starlight fans, another online group I'm in did a double pick and there are about 15 sets left if anyone wants me to sign up for them. Details from the barrel pick in spoiler below. Spoiler $170+shipping for the pair and only being sold as a set. The first 1/2 barrel is a one of a kind VDN finish. Why is this one unique? Well, I’ll tell ya. Starlight usually pulls their VDN finishes at 4 years. This one is being pulled at over 5.5 years. The highest aged VDN Starlight has ever done. And let me tell you…boy oh boy…it’s incredible! Now…for the second 1/2 barrel. This one is truly unique. This is a 1 of 1 barrel. It is Ted Huber’s personal, experimental barrel. It has never before been done by Starlight, and may never be done again. In fact, we were only able to take 1/2, as they wanted to keep the other 1/2 for themselves. It is an Oloroso Sherry finished off with mesquite chips. When I tell you we had mouthgasms, I mean every bit of that. It was incredibly unique, and yet, so perfectly balanced. For the cigar smokers…you’ll definitely want this one.
If you know anyone in Memphis, tell them to run to Buster’s for you. I’m no longer there. They also had the 8yr wheated for $399
