Just crushed High Hat Cafe for the first time after a day of boozing. Wow. Duck-andouille gumbo, BBQ shrimp, oyster remoulade poboy with pimento cheese grits. Son.
I love this goddamn city so much but I cannot do it for more than 3-4 weeks at a time. I would not survive. I don't have the self control.
Just booked an Airbnb for next month. It will be a late bday/never got to have a bachelor party/dudes weekend trip. My wife was planning it all behind my back with my friends but eventually had to tell me to figure out all the plans. Should be a good time.
Didn't snag a picture, but ate at Parkway Bakery and Tavern over the weekend. The roast beef and gravy was the best poboy I had this entire trip.
Anyone have a good recommendation for a Cajun/seafood restaurant? Ya ya there’s a million I know. I’ve been to a lot. Just trying to find something that might be new? Or getting good reviews/praise these days? Trying to get a reservation ahead of time for the dude being dudes. Nug
peche. Everything on the menu is fire and there are a bunch of small plate options for sharing/trying. Drinks are great. The vibe is good too
how many people will be with you? Resy has an option to notify you if something opens up between now and then and I could nearly guarantee it will. Also picking a later time isn’t a bad option either as there are plenty of good bar options a few blocks away on Tchoupitoulas where y’all could pre game then walk over to eat
5-6 fellas. Ya I think I’ll make a late reservation just in case. Pre gaming sounds like the plan. Thanks.
Toups could be a good "dudes being dudes" spot. Also a fan of Atchafalaya, but that's a little different vibe.
Narrow search here but anyone got a good place around Preservation Hall/Pat O’Briens for some etouffee? We are at the Boondock Saints bar.
Wife and I will be there in mid-February right as Mardi Gras is winding down. Haven't been since November 2019, can't wait to be back. Will be staying just outside the Quarter. Conventional wisdom last time was not to go north of Rampart, is that still good advice?
I stayed at the 4 Seasons last summer. It was too modern for me. I've stayed at The Ritz, Windsor Court, 4 Seasons, Hotel Monteleone, Roosevelt, Loews. Windsor Court has the nicest rooms but the vibe of the common areas /1st floor is too dark, drab , and boring to me. Ritz is the best overall hotel. Probably the 2nd nicest rooms but the rest of the hotel is super nice ,Davenport Lounge is great for jazz music, etc. Hotel Monteleone's rooms suck and the hotel just isn't that great. Regular Roosevelt rooms are not that great but I got a suite when I proposed to my wife and it was freaking ballin. Loews was just ok but had a cool bar.
I’m staying at the Hotel Monteleone currently. In the newly renovated tower. Room is small but nice IMO.
Heading down there with the wife over MLK weekend. We’re currently planning Atchafalaya for brunch and Commander’s for dinner on Saturday. We’re staying on Canal near Bourbon and will be flying in Friday night. Are there better options than those two? What’s the best place for a late night Po-boy on Friday night in the Quarter (flight lands at 8:45)? Any recommendations on places to eat on Sunday? We’re trying not to have to Uber anywhere. I’d like to hit up Frenchman as well since we like live music.
Is there anything more New Orleans than ESPN showing Bourbon Street and getting some ugly bitch showing her tits for beads right in front of a toddler on a stroller?
Second time I've been asked for feedback on that trip V Crosspost from stupid shit your wife does thread.
No worries, I’m over it at this point but it will be brought up with my wife till the end of time. I frequently drop “man a new orleans weekend away from the kids sure would be nice wouldnt it?”.
Arnaud’s vs French Market, what say ye? Dude we were sitting beside on the plane recommended French Market for Cajun/creole style food.
Arnaud’s jazz brunch was my wife and i’s favorite meal on our visit. I tried turtle soup for the first time
We’re at the jazz dinner, but damn if we aren’t drunk as fuck. We were given tickets to a burlesque show later so onward we go.
Starting to put together my list of stops for our trip in a couple weeks. Arnaud's is happening for sure. Anyone been to Palm & Pine?
Book it. Also, check out Cane & Table, Jewel of the South, Dovetail, Bijou, and Bar Tonique since you'll be in that area. Are you explicitly staying in the quarter?
See when Bacchanal has a band, go there for drinks one night. Blue Oak for amazing BBQ. Parkway Tavern for a top poboy in town. Peche is really good seafood but not a super-super nice place, much more relaxed. My go-to guide: https://nola.eater.com/maps/best-restaurants-new-orleans-38-map-nola
We're staying right off Canal so we will be in the quarter a lot of the time but we will be on Frenchmen and I want to get up to Parkway for sure too...
