They really should’ve delayed IX insane to still keep it to 2 years after TLJ when you change writer and director
Haven’t been in this thread in some time so forgive some shit that has already been posted repeatedly - Fat Lando was phenomenal - movie was nonstop- time flew by - don’t give a shit how Palpatine was resurrected - cried a little when Leia died - so many goosebumps when the reinforcements showed up - glad Rose got minimal screen time - Wanted more Keri Russell - Rey’s new saber...schwing - all the Jedi talking to Rey = : jizz: - cried when Maz gave Chewie his medal shit was good, JJA takes a lot of flack but I don’t really have any complaints as of now Return of the Jedi was total garbage #neverforget
In 1977, Kenner was selling EMPTY FUCKING BOXES that only promised the purchaser they'd get the action figures when they became available later that year/1978. Star Wars NEVER had any problem selling toys. Miss me with that bullshit.
Hey I saw the same episode of the Toys That Made Us too. Han was supposed to die in ROtJ, instead we got Teddy Bears defeating the empire with logs and rocks, Your attempts to defend that movie is almost insulting
Spielberg would’ve directed ROTJ if not for the guild strike IIRC Marquand had little to no experience with special effects so Lucas in many aspects was the director
There’s so much talent in Hollywood. One of the American Pie bros wrote Rogue One but there’s such a good old boys club where hacks consistently get work (Orci and Kurtzman top billing). Travis Knight could crush a SW movie. Although, Paramount needs to give him the kitchen sink to a Transformers reboot franchise.
even with Rogue One, the entire third act had to be re-written and re-shot with Tony Gilroy taking over and Gareth Edwards being put on the sidelines
Feige is an X’s And O’s and CEO movie exec. Has great ideas but can also delegate to other talented people.
Changed writers three times, had four finished drafts and changed directors twice! Rian was hired to write 9 but left the project to focus on Knives Out. Treverrow came on and wrote a draft that was rejected. He then re-wrote it with a new partner, then walked away. JJ and Tierro started from scratch and wrote it. Even then, JJ and Tierro basically had scrap and re-write 70% of their script well into production, which the sole reason the "3PO can't say Sith words until we dick around on Kjimi" subplot was added. It was all on pickups to change the purpose of the dagger. Instead of it being an ancient Sith artifact pointing to Matt Smith, it became a compass pointing to the second death star. 3PO was the perfect guy to use since they can dub in different lines seamlessly, as opposed to a human character whose lips you can see moving. The script was a total mess and it shows. Disney's first mistake with the new Star Wars trilogy was shifting from a three-year release schedule to a two-year schedule. There used to be a year for pre-production, a year for production, and a year for post. All three Star Wars saga directors (JJ, RJ, CT) started their movies while the one before was being finished. That, plus there being no settled overall story, AND the death of Carrie in between 8 and 9 just doomed it all.
This movie is mostly bad with a few good scenes between Kylo and Rey. Her kissing him was terrible. There was never any indication of romantic love between the two of them. Also glad that after 3 movies of Fin pining after Rey, it really paid off in this one...
One thing I hate about the mainstreaming of nerd stuff is that people who dont like shitty writing, obvious plot holes, lazy characters, etc. get shit on for being neckbeards and dorks. It's just the same as it ever was, except there is a lot more money involved.
Doesn't get talked about enough but the theme for The Mandalorian is an instant classic. I never thought I would think about Star Wars and not hear John Williams but this theme makes me want to be a bounty hunter and just respond to every question with "This is the way." Ludwig Goransson is a goddamn genius. From Childish Gambino to Black Panther to Christopher Nolan and now Star Wars. He can do no wrong right now.
Unless we skip forward in time a lot, there aren't many to choose from from the ST. 5 yrs ABY gives us a 5yr old Poe and a Hux that isn't much older. So it'd have to be OT characters
the word mythology in there makes me think we're going to get character from Clone Wars/Rebels, not necessarily the OT films.
I interpreted that to mean characters that have only appeared in the feature films but I hope I’m wrong
I didn't like the kiss thing, but I get it. Rey clearly felt a connection to him that I could see leading to her doing that. He also had just saved her life, so there's that. Of all the stuff that happened in the last 30 or so minutes, that doesn't really make the list of issues I care about. Finn didn't really pine for Rey for 3 movies, either. He was clearly meant to fall for Rose in the second one, and I didn't think he was chasing after Rey in that way at all in the third one. The Finn story is kind of weird because at the end of TFA he essentially knew 2 people, so it's kind of hard for me to criticize the movies for making him really connected to the one who was a female.
I’m sure this point has been made, but if the Vader comic where Palpatine fires the force gut missile up into Shmi... Rey is smooching her grandnephew
I wish the story group wouldnt debunk that stuff. Yes the comic was a wave of visions to interpreted a bunch of different ways., and it definitely wasnt a statement of fact. However, the ambiguity of that stuff is fun.
Palpatine may have been responsible for Anakin but they don't share DNA lol Rey is of Palpatine's lineage.
Yeah I dont know how he gets included (flashbacks maybe) but with the reveal of the dark saber, I don’t know how that statement wouldn’t mean Maul
