Had to put our dog down few months back, son was almost 4. Dog was sick for awhile, several overnight vet stays. We tried explaining to our son his heart was sick and in some words was no longer alive/with us. He must have asked on 5+ occasions “where is he?” and we’d have to re-explain. Now he will randomly say he misses him.

On one occasion think it was the second time I explained it to him and he responds “Dead? Dead like (insert gif below sound effect and everything)” made a sad moment hilarious.

The first thing my son looks for and asks for us where’s his dog when he wakes up. She’s 10 and in good health but it’s going to be a heartbreaker because they’re extremely close.

Is there an alternative to the owlet since they can’t monitor oxygen levels currently?

Nanit has "breathing wear" that just monitors to see if they are breathing using the camera, no O2 sensing.

Also, nanit software is pretty good, but I literally had to put a router in the room next to the camera to keep it from dropping off the network randomly, which is obnoxious for how expensive it is. You can use an Ipad as the monitor.

Yeah, they give you the year of sleep insights for free, and then start charging for it and that's kinda expensive too, but after a year we stopped caring as much anyway (we didn't put them in the cribs until they were ~6 mo I think). You also still get the alerts from when they move or make a sound so you can get a rough idea of how long they were awake even without the insights package.

Also, if you do go with nanit, don't set it up unless you are absolutely certain you are going to use it, because they start your free year of insights immediately at sign up.

I’m not sure why but our 3 year old is throwing up for the first time. 4 times so far and and liquid we give her comes back up. No fever (yet).

She is a sweet and cuddly patient though so it makes the clean up and situation easier.

Oddly, our dog had diarrhea inside the house for the first time in years. Lots of cleaning so far.

Our 3 year old was vomiting for the first time ever on Friday night. She got it from her 7 month old brother that was vomiting all day Friday. My wife started vomiting Friday night with them. So much vomit. Friday night was something. All three had fevers, but are back to normal now.

Both of our kids had constant reflux (ie throwing up in small amounts) until about one-ish. Our son throws up when he gets worked up, can be as little as thirty seconds sometimes, mainly right at bed time in his crib. That shit sucks.

Are there any good free websites for computer games for toddlers? Our daughter does educational games on the computer at her daycare, but tried to do some with her today on our laptop and it wasn't as easy as I expected to find a free site.

Our son is a private catholic school for kindergarten that we chose because they offered full day school where the elementary by us was only 2.5 hours (12:30 - 3PM) and that didn't work for our schedule.

Now we need to decide for next year. The current school is good, he has made friends, and have had zero issues. We are not religious for that part doesn't matter or could be a slightly negative. And if we went public its both free and walkable. Plus I think he'll get to know the neighorhood kids better if he went to the same school.

I hate pulling up him from school and having him have to make friends again (and my wife has to make mom friends again) but we live in a suburb with super highly rated public schools so it feels like wasting money if we don't have a reason to keep going to private catholic school.

At that age, I'm sure he'll adapt after a couple weeks but still a tough decision.

I know I talked about it before but it’s been on my mind a lot. I have a step son and my daughter. When my daughter was born I was hoping that I wouldn’t have different feelings for them. After 12 months I have to say that’s not entirely accurate. Don’t get me wrong, I love my son and would do and do so absolutely anything for him. But the love I have for my daughter is just different. I hoped it wouldn’t be the case but I have to accept the fact that there is a difference and that’s okay.

formula recall for those of you who use it.
The FDA is advising consumers not to use Similac, Alimentum, or EleCare powdered infant formulas if:

    • the first two digits of the code are 22 through 37; and
    • the code on the container contains K8, SH or Z2; and
    • the expiration date is 4-1-2022 (APR 2022) or later.
