Dude my advice is to wait and keep looking for the 6. The additional power is a huge difference. Now I have the inline 6, it’s an 05 TJ rubi but I am so glad I got the extra horsepower. So much fun to drive.

I'm leaning heavily towards the V6. I've test-driven a Rubicon (2.0) & S (v6). I know gearing played a part, but the 2.0 felt so much better... especially on the highway. I've read a ton of reviews & it seems be pretty mixed. My main concern with the 2.0 is it's extra battery/cooling system, need for premium fuel & lifetime maintenance. Despite being more fuel efficient, it'll cost more to drive. Factor in that it's a Jeep & all those extra parts will certainly fail.

I'm mostly just fucking with/negotiating with the local dealerships, to see how far I can push them for a deal. They might need 1 more sale next Thursday, or the following month so I'm giving them an option for a quick sale.

The 4 cyl in the new one way different bc of the turbo. Not really a fair comparison between it and the 4 cyl in the TJ. I havent driven the new one but it's not a TJ 4 cyl.

I’ve been reading a lot that it’s very beneficial to get the tow package, not for towing, but for the AUX buttons. Confirmation?

In order to fit the burly V-8 into the Wrangler, Jeep had to upgrade the engine mounts and modify the frame. The eight-cylinder engine is FCA's 392 Hemi, which is a 6.4-liter (392 cubic inch) V-8 that produces 450 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque. Jeep claims that the Rubicon 392 concept can get from zero to 60 mph in less than five seconds, and it has a dual-mode exhaust system for some obnoxious V-8 rumbles.

Didn’t know this had a threat. New Jeep guy reporting for duty. Got a used Unlimited Sport. Kids seem to like it. The radio that comes with it was installed incorrectly and sucks so might need to replace that. Also building a lift in my garage for the hard top so that should be fun.

Was this Hemi thing for sure or like a prototype or SEMA thing? Obviously want to rain on the Broncos parade.

Jeep said originally it couldn’t fit and adhere to safety regulations but now they say it’s happening. Guess they figured it out. It’s a beast of a motor. Maybe the Bronco will offer the 3.5 or 5.0 in the future due to this. Competition is always good and Jeep went too long without any.

All the car sites are saying it's coming. And I can't imagine they'd make this statement if they weren't releasing it.

"Jeep enthusiasts have been clamoring for a V-8-powered production Wrangler in recent years, and the new Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 Concept is an indication they may soon get their wish," Fiat Chrysler said in a statement Monday.

Man I've been Googling "392 Wrangler" daily for more news and nothing. Wonder how long they'll drag it out before making a formal announcement.

A fully loaded Rubi with the power top is $62k. I think that's as high as one can go. Add in the engine upgrade + lift + tires and I think it's definitely $70k+. I'd be thrilled if it came in lower but idk how it can. It seems like they have pushed back the new body style GC to 2022 models so this is almost certainly going to be my next truck.

My base Rubi in 2015 was $45, but I saw the loaded ones were low $50s. Didn't realize they were topping out in the 60s now.

Searching on Jeep.com, the highest MSRP I see if $62,055. That's with the $4k power top though so really mid $50's is the normal loaded Rubi price these days.

Yeah I was just looking around the Phx area and seems the power tops are $62 but seem pretty rare but most of others others are $55ish.

We looked at the power top, and while nice, you can't remove the back window so that kinda sucks and turned us off to it. It seems like they fixed that on the 392 concept so hopefully that's something available in the future.

Yea no doors but still the back window looks awful imo. I would think the drag it creates sucks too. I think you can open it but then you have a window hanging off the back. The 392 looks so clean without it. Hope that stick on the production version. But honestly it's not THAT big of a deal. I have my TJ that sits in the garage with just a bikini/tonneau cover. Normally no doors. If it's great weather with little chance of rain, I'll drive it. Not sure I'll put the effort into taking off side and back windows on the 392 when I have one with no top/doors sitting in the other garage ready to go. The 392 will be more of just an SUV.

I just called my Jeep dealer on Friday to see if they knew anything about the 392 or Wagoneer bc it's time for me to buy a new truck but both things I want aren't available. Of course the sales manager said they didn't know anything and he thought it would be 2+ years on the 392. Called back this morning to make sure I'm at the top of that list. Can't fucking wait.
