Ok so I have been at work and have been reading Lostpedia for about an hour now. I am also rewatching them over so I though we should start a thread that keeps going until the Premiere about theories and questions people have on the show. For people that are reading this there should be some rules. DO NOT post something about season 6 that you found on a spoiler site (DarkUFO) unless you use the spoiler function here. For people that havent watched the entire show yet, there will be spoilers from Season 1-5 and I dont think we need to use the spoiler function because everything would be in spoilers.

My first real question is really impossible to answer but would love to hear some theories.

Who the fuck is the "enemey"/other guy with Jacob that takes up Lockes form. Season 5 Finale he is shown with Jacob and he has 2 conversations with him. The first coversation he says he wants to kill Jacob badly and needs a loophole. Then when he shows up in the statute, Jacob notes that the enemy found his loophole.

Also how does Jacob know Illana

And Why did Jacob pick those people in his flashbacks to come to the island

    Also two more

What did Jacob mean when he said "They're coming" before he died

Who was shooting the people from the canoe thing

And what role will Christian, who "spoke on the behalf of Jacob," have now that Jacob is dead. And Claire too.

I thought that's what the consensus was?

It's crazy to look back at the series now knowing about MIB b/c everytime that Jacob has been mentioned and his cabin, it was MIB not Jacob. Jacob had not been in that cabin "for a long time" and was living in the statue the whole time so anytime they went to "Jacob's" cabin, it was actually the MIB's cabin.

    Totally, totally disagree.

MIB had no idea where Jacob was hiding that's why the MIB took over Locke's body to get to Alpert & Ben so that Richard would take the MIB to Jacob.

I think they are the exact same entity, much like in the Bible there is God, son and the holy spirit, but they are one true entity. This is how I feel about MIB and Smokey.

Go watch the episode last season where Ben is judged by the smoke monster. First he goes into his closet and calls smokey. When he goes outside, he hears something in the trees, and it ends up being Locke (as smokey/MIB) who comes out. Then they go to the temple (with "Locke" saying that's where they should go) and Ben falls down through the old rock. "Locke" says he'll go grab rope, and smokey appears right after that to Ben, and tells Ben not to kill Locke (because if he did, his plan to kill Jacob would be ruined). Once Ben is finished being judged, "Locke" suddenly appears again, and all is well.

This last season was great, because I think it showed that smokey/MIB has been wanting to do this for years (the first scene in the finale shows this). Look back at stuff we saw during season 5 though. Danielle's crew getting "sick". Unlike Ben, Danielle was able to notice something was different with everyone. She thought they were sick, but what they really were, was dead. Had her hubby been able to kill her, we would have had Jacob killed back in the 80s, instead of 2007. He's been trying to find a loophole with all these people.

I think he wanted Locke from the very moment he came to the island. Look back at the season 1 finale. He grabs John, and drags him a long ways, and he almost goes down his hole. John being the weird guy he was, wanted to go down there, not knowing he would be killed, then have his body used to kill Jacob. MIB was so close to almost getting control of John in 2004, but ended up having to wait til 2007, when he finally got his loophole.

    Yep.

Another thing that's interesting is that there seems to be a lot of "rules" about what can and can't be done. MIB had to find a loophole to kill Jacob. Ben's daughter was killed, and Ben responded by trying to kill Widmore's daughter, but not kill him. Hopefully we find out more about the rules in the final season. I have a feeling that the book of law this picture has a lot of stuff pertaining to what can and can't be done in this "war":

I agree with that. Whenever a character has seen a person that IS NOT on the island, they almost always die.

    Dave - Hurley almost jumped
Christian - Jack chased him and fell over a cliff
Yemi - Lead Eko to the monster and killed him

After watching the whole series last spring, I re-watched all the episodes with my brother at the end of the summer/beginning of the school year. The Yemi situation is the one that stood out to me the most. Back then we didn't know much, but looking back, it's obvious smokey has control over the dead. Yemi walks behind a plane, smokey comes out, Eko is done. We should have known right there that Christian shouldn't be trusted.

Two years ago, I would have barely believed it. But now I definitely don't. they said they're done with time travel, and I think something like this would be too complicated for the show. Some people had trouble grasping time travel, imagine what they would do seeing this :loldog:

Ok, here is my stab, I agree w/ the long post above.

I will take it a step farther, I also think Jacob knew exactly how all of this was going to play out as well. If not, why would he have even saved Locke's life when he fell out of the window? In the finale, when he said they are coming, he was referring to the Oceanic folks. He picked all of them for a reason to be on the plane, so he had to have chosen Locke as well.

I do agree that it showed what the MIB wanted to do, but I think Jacob was a step ahead of him and that is what we will find out about this season. I think the rules were put in place by Jacob as not to allow the MIB to get power.

I also think he wanted Ben to kill him...Jacob that is. I think we will learn this year that he had to die or it wouldn't surprise me if he came back through a loophole through someone who is dead...just thinking out loud there. I do think Ben killed Jacob b/c Jacob told him he needed to. I think Ben knows exactly what is going on and is doing his job to serve him.

I can't figure Desmond out though. He is the key.

I don't do spoilers either but evidently the first episode of this season answers more questions than the past two SEASONS combined...which doesn't suck.

Probably to early to say for sure, but if want to throw in some Biblical stuff, it may be Esau, brother of Jacob. The Bible says they were brothers, but also enemies (to a degree). Esau, the oldest, had to forsake his birthright to Jacob because he was starving and Jacob had food. Kind of a dickish thing to do, but... ( http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Genesis%2025&version=NIV ).

No idea. She seemed to know him when he visited her in the hospital, and she is familiar with his cabin and with Richard, so I think they have known each other for a while.

In actuality, he only picked Kate, Sawyer, Jack, Locke and Sun / Jin BEFORE the Island. He interacted with Sayid and Hurley after they left the first time. Also, if you recall, he gave Kate money (for the lunchbox), Sawyer a pen (to write his letter) and Jack a candy bar (from the vending machine). When Hurley checks out of jail, just before he gets in the taxi with Jacob, he gets his possessions back from the clerk: money, a pen and candy. Coincidence?

The soldiers in the war Whitmore spoke of. Probably Ilana, Bram and her people. They are the first of many. They tried recruiting Miles if you recall.

They flashed in time if you recall. I think, that in some point in the future, someone we know, maybe the Losties from another period of time, will be in canoes and see 'enemies' ahead and shoot at them. Then the enemies will disappear. Wouldn't surprise me if one of the people firing is Sawyer, shooting at himself. :)

I watch way to much LOST.

Disagree. I don't ever remember seeing Ben as confused about everything as he was after "Locke" was resurrected in the 316 crash. Especially when he was really emotional in his speech to Jacob about never meeting him, then Jacob says "what about you."

I totally forgot about that scene until I rewatched season 5 after getting it for Christmas. Mind was blown, hopped on Lostpedia to see theories, and I agree. It's them trying to stop what was happening. Hell, maybe they were trying to get their attention or something? To tell them to stop what they were doing? Maybe something telling Locke he didn't need to die?

I'm pretty sure Cuse and Lindelof said something to the effect that the characters name is definitely not Esau because that would be too direct of a reference and lame. It may vaguely parallel the story but is not identical. For some reason i remember them saying this, i may be crazy though.

So to questions we know will be answered:

The producers also plan to wrap up long-standing mysteries, such as the nature of the smoke monster, the four-toed statue of Taweret, the identity of the Adam & Eve skeletons from the season one episode "House of the Rising Sun", and the reason the Dharma periodic resupply drops continue after the purge.

Bolded mystery is the most underrated in Lost's mythology IMO. But it happened so long ago (season 2), no one really remembers it anymore.

I'm already posting to much, forgive me... (and I hadn't read about the MIB not being Esau. Thought it was still a viable theory. My bad)

I think the food drops are from another time as well. The Losties used the hell out of that Dharma food. It really helped them get by. So, I think the Losties dropped it themselves for themselves. If that makes an sense.

And I think Adam and Eve are Bernard and Rose. Bernard makes a statement in S5 that "...if we die, we die. All that matters is that we (he and Rose) are together at the end..."

Go back and watch the last few episodes...especially the last one. Ben is totally setting him up...fake Locke that is. The scene when they are on the beach talking privately is the one that really caught my eye. The final scene as well was just to over the top. Whether Ben knew it or not, Jacob wanted him to kill him. Why? I have no clue.

I really think Ben is and has been in control the entire time, I have no reason to think this would be any different. Jacob uses Ben to do everything he wants. He even wanted him to kill Locke so the MIB would come back to life.

The end result is going to be all of the fighting the two of them have been doing will all come to a permanent end...

    Again, just my thoughts.

Another post about Jacob being in total control. Who is one of Jacob's right hand men? Alpert.

Who helps re-incarnated bad guy Locke make it to the point he kills Jacob? Alpert.

Coincidence? Possibly. To me, more than likely Jacob put Alpert in the places to help make it happen the way it did so it would all go down exactly as planned. Knowing LOST though, Jacob could very well be the bad guy...who knows.

Can't believe I glossed over that, good point.

Awesome theory. Never even thought of that.

But if they are sending stuff to themselves, and if the Ilana and crew are chasing after them, how is this happening? How did they get back to 2004 to them themselves food? How did they get to the point in time (we never knew when it was) to chase after Locke and crew? They say they are done with time travel, but these instances need time travel to be answered IMO.

The food that was dropped all had the Swan Dharma logo on it. That makes me think that it was just standard procedure by the Dharma Initiative to drop food on the island every few months or so for the people inhabiting the hatch.

I thought that too when I posted this. All this talk about time got me interested in it, so I searched it on Lostpedia. Some really good theories and such here:

    http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Time_on_the_island_(theory)

This really stood out to me:

If time moves differently on the Island, it might explain....

The pallet (food drop) seeming to appear out of nowhere. The plane dropping it flies over the Island's event horizon and drops it; when it lands it is now on island-time. From the Island perspective the plane is never seen because it happened some other time.

The food drops continue even though DHARMA supposedly was cancelled sometime in the late '80s. The food was sent in the 80s, but arrives at a different time on the Island.

Why the Dharma Intitative food from the supply drops has such ridiculously long expiry dates.
