Recently built a hi-fi/stereo/turntable system. Busting out records I've purchased over the decade since I've last had a turn table setup
I emailed Mondegreen trying to find out more about the two different GA lots, which ones are open for early entry, and which one the GA RVs are in. They said they should be releasing more information about all of that at some point. I’m tent camping with Wed entry, but I have friends in a GA RV. Hoping early entry tents and the GA RVs are both on that upper GA lot on the map.
I’ve hesitated to get a turntable because I spend way too much on music related stuff already. But both of our parents have record collections just waiting for us to go pick up. We started buying records at some recent shows and festivals as a little push to get it all set up. Still don’t have a turn table yet but I feel the slope getting slippery already. I think I’m going to end up leveraging my Sonos system, but after a lot of reading I’m not sold on the WiFi enabled ones and how the grouping works. Think I’ll be getting one with a pre-amp and using an RCA in adapter for the Move to start off. Think a separate system is out of the question for me at the moment.
Noice. Somehow haven't listened to this in forever I blame the algorithm, because stax jam pops up all the damn time Quiet Please is worth a listen, too. Different album, I believe, but one of their most underrated songs
Big outdoor activity festival in Richmond this weekend and they have some decent bands….Eggy and Karl Denson on Saturday. Band called The Stews playing Sunday, anybody know them. Auburn guys who are hitting the college circuit and touring hard past couple years
Leo Kottke tonight. Don’t think I’ve seen him since a few years after his first album with Mike came out.
SCI spring tour opener in Cville. They rock. Dont think I’d need a multi night run anymore, but they fun
Warren Haynes is going on tour with John Medeski and Greg Osby along with govt mule bass player Kevin Scott They're playing Red Rocks with the Colorado symphony It's on a Tuesday (September 10) but I might pick that for my first red rocks show
Salvage Station in Asheville is closing at the end of this year. Taken by eminent domain to build an I-26 connector. I have mixed feelings because it is a great venue but it’s not really near much else. They’re rebuilding but don’t know where yet. Probably catch Cosmic Country there in Oct. Charleston run is during IBMA or I would be there.
Have any of you east coast / mid-atlantic folks been to the Groove in the Gorge Music Series at The Outpost in Fayetteville, WV? It looks cool as shit. Friday night shows with camping, river rafting packages that get you back in time for the show. Then smaller fireside jams on Sat. If you pay for a campsite, the Friday ticket is included and the jam is free. Thinking of doing Kitchen Dwellers with Arkansauce this summer, and possibly Daniel Donato in the fall. https://outpostnrg.com/events
Someone beside me at Asheville Cherokee Center this year had a Puffco pro and hot knife he snuck in somehow. That’s an expensive confiscation if you get caught.
MSG owned venues are notorious for using facial recognition technology. Guy will probably get kicked out of any of their venues after going through security but before making it to his seat
Imagine being spun and blissfully unaware, then looking close enough like him to get a facial scan hit and security grabs you on the way in.
Cosmic Country sounding really good on their stream from last night. I can tell they have been working to polish those vocals. Daniel has come a long way imo. Bass player has the ‘best’ voice and seems to be getting more comfortable singing and being featured a little more.
Shoutout to the 30th anniversary of one of the greatest YEM’s ever played. You Enjoy Myself (19:58) • Phish • 1994-06-11 • Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Morrison, CO https://relisten.net/phish/1994/06/11/you-enjoy-myself?source=163670
One of the ones I had on cassette. Came in handy when I found myself as a youngin in the CD era with a totaled car, not being able to afford another one, and then buying my grandmas old ass camry. That box of cassettes in the closet came in big.
Continue falling out more with Goose. Last year they booked Red Hat Amphitheater in the middle of the week, and barely filled half of it. They did the same thing this year, and sales look to be bad again, plus they have not turned on the ability to sell your tickets in TM or transfer them out and the show is next week. Now I’m stuck with 4 the lady bought for her sister and fam who can’t go now. Guess someone will be getting some Miracles on the street.
Any songs, jams, or solos that stand out? I'm talking "start at 7:23 of the Portland 93 Golgi Apparatus" level of specificity I'll add one while I'm on the subject. Fantastic Jimmy solo on This Part of Town, which is a very hard song to play a memorable solo. Starts around 3:23: https://www.panicstream.com/vault/widespread-panic-09222007-memphis-tn/
