Different writers and showrunner. Darabont (directed Shawshank and The Green Mile) was in charge of the first season. Wrote and directed a couple episodes himself. Was supposed to still be in charge of the second season but AMC got cheap and he wasn't happy about that so he left/got fired/something.
sucks. He was inifinitely better than the new guys. And the show is so popular they have no reason to change at this point.
jaws removed so they cant bite and arms gone so they can't scratch / tear. definitely just used for zombie repellant.
If When the zombie apocalypse occurs, women will be thinking that they're going to be OK because they watched this show, when in reality they are going to get skewered if they play by the "rules" of this show. Men, on the other hand, realize this shit is ridiculous, and due to having pointed out the inaccuracies, will have an idea of what to expect - and will survive. We just have to realize that we need to save and protect enough hot bitches so that we can repopulate the earth again, or at least have fun sexy time.
If a sheriff not knowing every small detail about every town he comes across in ga is going to piss you off then just stop watching television. what the fuck is he supposed to be an autistic jason bourne/dr house abomination?
so you want to see a show about something not based on the walking dead, but still call it the walking dead? also, everyone turns once they die whether they have been bitten or not so hawaii nogs are fucked, too.
The virus doesn't just magically spread. yah it's air born but there is a chance that isolated islands would not be exposed. If someone contracted the virus then flew to Hawaii then yah they're fucked. But not everyone on earth is exposed to the virus just because the virus exists.
Also you can find out some of the stuff i was talking about through the experiences of the current group. This had already been established by the cdc adventures.
I don't know if its just because last season sucked so bad by comparison but last nights episode was great.
Not that I'm complaining but I'm surprised they showed that much of Rick chopping off Hershel's leg. It was pretty gruesome for basic cable, IMO. Zombies are one thing but straight up amputation, wow.
It gets me that this show is on at 8pm (CST), and Breaking Bad has to be on at 9pm (CST) due to the violence.
? I think we're all desensitized to zombie stuff, but there's no way an FCC panel would see it this way, imo. Not sure why Breaking Bad airs later, but that doesn't seem like the rationale.
First off this was way better than any episode of last season, the only (very) weak parts to me were the very beginning, wandering around all winter and the copious amounts of headshots from long distance. For all those bitching about how they are clearing out the prison, they are staying pretty faithful to the comic in that regard, and isn't that what most people have said would make this show better? Surprised no one complained about how Herschel got bit, they all walk past the seemingly dead zombie and he doesn't move, then they run back past him again and he pops up and grabs his leg. This again stays pretty faithful to the comic, but surprised some didn't have a problem with it. Spoiler Only for people who have read through the end of the time at the prison in the comics. Proceed Spoiler I'm already looking forward to how the show will resolve the end of the prison storyline. I'm almost positive that dead babies are off limits for non-HBO/Showtime shows, but I can't see them diverging from the comics so much as to keep Lori and the baby alive.
Why? Spoiler they kept Shane alive 18 episodes past where he should have been to create drama. I have no doubt they would have no problem keeping Lori's dead weight around longer than necessary.
yeah, good point. In that case I think it was good because at least Shane was an interesting character. Lori offers nothing at all. Spoiler I could foresee a scenario where Lori is killed but the baby lives and Rick/Karl have to try to raise her and keep her safe, but I think that could become cumbersome. Not that it would stop these guys from doing it. You're probably right, we're never getting rid of Lori
Of all the things this show has done wrong, keeping Shane alive was the worst. It completely stunted the development of almost everyone in the show compared to the books. At this point the books are nothing more than an outline and not one that follow too closely. Spoiler for example it looks like they're going to completely screw with how the governor meets everyone since miccione and Andrea seem to be the first two there
Yeah, I see what you are saying there. Spoiler I was just thinking about this today, wonder if they are going to have Rick still lose his hand or not. Was telling my gf about the prisoner cutting the two little girls heads off, and how the chick kills Lori and the baby and then kills the Governor, her eyes got all wide and shit, was funny. I am really trying to just look at it as a similar story and enjoy it for what it is, not hold it too close to the standard of the comic, but its hard.
Started the show last Thursday and I'm finally caught up. Did anybody do a minor fist pump when that faggot Dale died? God I hated that saggy-balled bitch.
Not really far fetched that the girl would start to like the only boy remotely close to her age. It's not like she has options. Everything else you pointed out is pretty retarded, and I'm starting to think that gatorfromiowa can't enjoy anything ever. All in all I thought it was decent regardless of some plot holes. At least it had some plot this time around.
Game of thrones, shameless, boardwalk empire, homeland, the wire, sopranos, etc. Thinking walking dead is a shitty show isn't some crazy idea.
Do you just turn off the over-critical part of your brain when you watch that show since you know it's not taking itself seriously?
Ya. I think it's obvious that people, myself included, watch different shows for different reasons. I can get enjoyment out of something like True Blood b/c I watch it for mindless entertainment. Whereas a show like Boardwalk, thrones, wire, etc. are shows I watch b/c of the great writing, stories, and acting. I watch those type of shows with a more critical eye b/c that is the standard of realism that the show sets. I think Breaking Bad tries to hold itself as operating in a realm of realism so that's how I watch it. I don't think Homeland attempts to do the same thing, so I don't watch it quite as critically.
i think my problem with the show is i expect Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad when i watch Shows and this show isnt on that level. From now on im just gonna turn my brain off when i watch this show and enjoy the bloodshed.
Well the only reason I watched season 2 was to read the videogum reviews the next day...but those are apparently done. I'm continually amazed by how many posters on this board give a shit about what I think about a TV show. What I post and have posted in this thread is the exact same shit that moxin, BH, bricktamland, etc. post. Yet for some reason you (and some others) seem to care solely about what I have to say and why I watch. If you really care about why I watch: Unintentional comedy, I've already invested 2 seasons worth of time, it might get better, blah blah blah. Honestly though, who gives a shit why I watch or post? I do it because I feel like it. I guess it's unfortunate for you that your questioning/bitching about the reasons behind me watching/posting have absolutely zero effect on what I do.
1. Rick will not deign to have his son eat pussy-ass cat food. Only dry kibble. 2. Why didn't they clear out yard-by-yard through the fence? How in the world can riot gear zombie negotiate where things are behind that fogged masked and cumbersum get-up 3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GPgQYtzHZM 4. Presumably there should be maps of the place on hand, at the very least inside the guard desk where Rick fondled the guard corpse. 5. Where did they get silencers in the middle of the fucking country? 6. Zombies seem to have really good hearing; why wouldn't they exploit that to move-oh what the fuck ever.
If you also have a strange sense of schadenfreude and like the idea of writers who hate their audience, you're gonna love season 2
