Back in the saddle, finally. Absence was due mostly to my knee, but motivation has been lacking. Cardio is already there, but taking it S L O W... starting at 25-30 miles & gradually building.
My work schedule lightened but am now using all of my spare time fully remodeling my kitchen and den. I miss spinning.
In a way you’re kind of right. With the zero interest you have to sign up for 3 years of the monthly subscription whereas without the zero interest you don’t. It’s kinda a way they “get you” but without the monthly subscription the bike is not as useful.,
So we've had the bike about a month now, and I don't think I've stuck with a workout as long and easily as this. I love the variety and there's no excuse to not get at least a short ride in when I get home. Much easier than having to make the effort to drive to the gym at a specific time. Have ridden 7 of the last 10 days. So far I'm team Hannah Marie Corbin or Emma Lovewell.
So don't shame me, but I checked my history and apparently haven't done a ride of hers. I did a ride with Ally Love and found her very annoying. I for some reason mixed her up with Robin so was avoiding her. I will correct this today.
I started with a lot of Jennifer Jacobs, she does a lot of long stretches that make for a consistent ride with decent output. Recently I have done more Robin and Alex. Hit a personal best with Alex but Robin's workouts are by far the most challenging rides. Trying to get home tonight for the Jess King Trap Music Ride. Did it a few weeks ago and actually really enjoyed it.
I’m not a big Jennifer Jacobs fan, but my two highest output scores have been with her. I really like Robin because she cusses and talks an insane amount of shit.
I guess I'm someone who is easily open to the power of suggestion b/c I haven't seen a link between trainer personality and my output. There are a couple trainers I don't like (Jenn, Dennis), but there are a top 6 or 7 I like roughly equally and playlists break ties with them when I'm making an on demand choice. Somehow still have zero Ally rides.
Morton, Wilpers, Robin, HMC are my top 4. I really like Wilpers because hes just so calm and all about hitting marks
I ordered my Peloton bike, will be here late next week. So much money but everyone who has one seems to be happy with it. How do I join the TMB group so I can be shamed?
I had to quit a FTP test last night. got 7 minutes into it and had nothing. super fucking frustrating.
I have not done one yet. Just read an article on it though. Is the best place to start the 10 minute FTP warm up and then the 20-Min FTP Test Ride?
It’s TMB in Strava I am BeerStoleMy6Pack on Peloton a.tramp will approve your membership request There are 5 min warm up classes that worked better for me as a warm up to the FTP test. I’d bookmark both so it’s easier to find them when you’re ready to take them. That way you don’t cool down too much looking for the ftp test after the warm up.
I'm going to try it again this week and NOT do the 10 minute warm up, unnecessary and can be heavy. 5 minute workout. and they are the hardest rides i have done to date, its basically 20 minutes straight effort at zone 4-6
Hope this does sound stupid or condescending but honestly they are as hard as you make them. I just about gave it my all so to me it was wicked hard. I take other 20 min classes were I give it my all and wonder how my output was so high in the FTP class. I’d take the class after a active recovery day or no more than 1 day off. Give it everything that way you get an honest level of fitness and know how much you’ve grown when you take it again.
That is what I expected. I figured it was like anything else, what you put in is what you get out. Thanks for the reply.
back at it yesterday and broke in with Hannah. Was away last week and had to get a new tablet. Also, did her 10 minute core workout and wanted to die.
Did my 600th workout with Peloton today. That is a combination of running, strength, yoga/stretching and cycling. That’s in less than 8 months with the bike. Seriously the best health investment I’ve ever made.
Yeah they do. Pretty much everything counts. I sometimes do “just ride” rides when I finish a live class and am waiting for the next one to start. Sometimes they are really short 3-5 min and I’ll go back and delete them. But, they do count towards your total.
I said I delete them no need to be mean. I do them when I do 1:30 and 1:55 and don’t want to cool down for the 5 min or do in between the classes.
Have been traveling for work and now family vacation almost all week. Feel like shit for not being able to ride.
I had to replace the sleeve on my handlebar today. The thing was not budging an inch when I tried to adjust it. I had the replacement part from Peloton in a day and I had it replaced in five minutes. Everything is back to normal, and they sent me an extra sleeve just in case.
Took my shot at Daniel Ocean this week. Came up .2 miles short(if you don’t ride today which you probably will bc your insane) but broke 100 miles for the first time. Thanks for the motivation. And fuck your lunch rides on top of peleton. I hope the fish tacos were terrible.
Had a bunch of shit to do in Santa Monica so decided to ride my bike instead of drive. About a block into the ride it clicked in me that I should use Strava to get the miles in since I thought I wasn’t going to Peloton. When I got home I decided to do a quick Peloton class that turned into an hour of riding. Anyway I am supposed to do my long run today so if I ride it will probably be a 10 min cool down ride after my run. If I don’t run I will probably do a low impact ride.
Did my long run at the beach but decided to ride too just in case Tony Wonder got any ideas. If you’re coming after the king you best not miss.
Hey guys I am running a half marathon in late October. I am trying to raise money for St Jude’s Children’s Hospital. I hope you guys find it in your heats to donate a few bucks. None of the money goes to me. http://fundraising.stjude.org/site/TR/Heroes/Heroes?px=4942214&pg=personal&fr_id=87329
I am thinking around a grand or so. There is wiggle room though. My buddy I would ride with does mostly roads but I know he rides some easier trails as well. I would probably stick to what he does.
People are saying my 60-minute pop ride with Jenn Sherman today rivals Schilling’s bloody sock game for grittiest performance. People are saying that. Spoiler
