Houndmouth- little neon limelight is my sleeper Abbey road, Rumours and dark side of the moon are obvious ones I think this about everything by sturgill, but I’m biased there
You ain't lying dude. Had this album on my list but haven't really dug in, listening straight through now. This is great
I respect that. I was listening to little neon limelight when I typed that post, so I’m sure that influenced my opinion
Absolutely waiting for the lord to rise I look into my daughters eyes And realize, ima learn through her The messiah, might even return through her If ima do it, ima change the world through her those are some of my favorite lyrics from any song ever
this album is an all-time great on its own, but the fact that it's composed entirely of samples with mid-90s tech makes it even cooler
prog-rock dorkery Yes - Close to the Edge Rush - Permanent Waves Genesis - Selling England by the Pound Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick
Natural Science is my favorite Rush song. Freewill and Jacob's Ladder being on the album puts it at the top for me
I like it a lot too but it's not on White Pony or Diamond Eyes level for me. I'm glad there's other Deftones fans around here. I've seen them like 8 or 9 times and they've been great all but once in 03
Got me into rap/hip hop etc. Have no quarrels saying it was one of the most influential albums of that time and helped shape the landscape of the genre(s) going forward. Casual listener can enjoy it, yet it's deep enough to dive into. Also opened the world up to writing and talking about mental health, addiction etc through music.
I missed this somehow, but I’m glad there’s another one of us. I was actually listening to some Team Sleep on the way in this morning. Current ranking 1. Around The Fur 2. Diamond Eyes 3. White Pony 4. Deftones 5. Koi No Yokan 6. Ohms 7. Saturday Night Wrist 8. Gore 9. Adrenaline
Adrenaline is still solid, and it’s higher sometimes, but it just doesn’t have the staying power some of those others do. Bored is still one of my favorite songs though.
It's Adrenaline, Around the Fur and White Pony on somewhat equal footing for me, then the rest. Ohms blew me away with how good it is I will say.
Listen buddy, I'm glad we can bond over a great band (one of my top 3 favorites) but this list needs some fixing up Tier 1 - You could put these in either order and still be correct, Diamond Eyes is so strong from top to bottom while WP has the two best songs in the tier 1. Diamond Eyes 2. White Pony Tier 2 - Still very good but has a few skips on it 3. Around The Fur 4. Ohms 5. Adrenaline 6. Koi No Yokan 7. Self Titled Tier 3 - About half the album you can skip 8. Saturday Night Wrist Bad Tier - I don't listen to this, at all 9. Gore
0:00 - 3:56 The Wallflowers - "Heroes" 3:56 - 8:31 Jamiroquai - "Deeper Underground" 8:31 - 12:36 Rage Against the Machine - "No Shelter" 12:36 - 16:16 Ben Folds Five - "Air" 16:16 - 19:57 Days of the New - "Running Knees" 19:57 - 24:16 Michael Penn - "Macy Day Parade" 24:16 - 30:01 Foo Fighters - "A320" 30:01 - 32:51 Fuzzbubble - "Out There" 32:51 - 38:03 Joey Deluxe - "Undercover" 38:03 - 39:52 David Arnold - "Looking For Clues"
I haven’t listened to astral weeks in years. Fired it up while I drink my iced coffee at aurora coffee patio. So good. Thanks you guys.
Relatively unknown albums, great from beginning to the end gems are: The Good Earth by The Feelies On Fire by Galaxy 500 more modern and not obscure Grouplove’s Never Trust a Happy Song
I was literally thinking about this earlier. Serendipitous that this thread was on the front page. Though, my good friend Degausser had my entry for The National - Trouble Will Find Me covered already.
The Onion is not far off here actually. I’m not a big metal fan but this album is still great and the peak of the genre IMO.
Paid in Full - Erik B and Rakim Curtis - Curtis Mayfield Hunky Dory - David Bowie John Prine - John Prine Kind of Blue - Miles Davis These are more imo but All Hail West Texas - The Mountain Goats Black Messiah - D'Angelo Mothership Connection - Parliament Live at the Cellar Door - Richie Heavens Troupeau Bleu - Cortex The OOZ - King Krule Cuttin Grass vol 1. - Sturgill Simpson
