we should try anyway, i gotta say that i didnt realize how underrated minneapolis is for producing good punk -off with their heads -dillinger four -the soviettes -banner pilot pretty good for what i expected i thought chicago was the only place in the midwest that did it right
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here I'm not sure, but I definitely attempted a couple of months ago. http://www.the-mainboard.com/index.php/topic,747.0.html I've been listening to a lot of Against Me! lately. Great band.
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here OWTH is good stuff.
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here i cooled down on am! but with the news that george rebelo is going to be their drummer im like holy shit yes
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here The Clash The Ramones The DKs The Sex Pistols The Screamers Suburban Lawns I win...
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here not a fan of the sex pistols - they had one album and everyone is like whoamg i liked old clash, late in the bands life they started making some crap
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here I don't listen to much new punk unless it's of the Scandi-Crust variety. I like a good bit of old Punk/Proto-Punk and especially post-Punk. Public Image Limited > Sex Pistols by a large margin.
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here Tis true. Before Civ started his own act (which sucked), Gorilla Biscuits was a pretty damn good band. I haven't heard too much punk music that has moved me, but the newest Strung Out album was pretty damn good.
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic h I'm always on the lookout for new punk music
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here Jay Reatard is a new good pop-Punk/Post-Punk act.
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here What the fuck is scandi-crust?
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here This is probably best reserved for another thread, but I have a hard time fitting Reatard into a punk category or genre. Much in the same way Fugazi is considered a post-punk act (whatever that really means), I just don't see it. I guess I'll liken it to a Supreme Court's ruling-I can't explain what punk is, but I know it when I hear it.
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here tom gabel Tom Gabel "Anna Is A Stool Pigeon"
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here Scandinavian Crust/Punk. They really etched out their own style over there in the mid-80s, taking a musical cue from acts like Discharge and Amebix. It's metallic, dirgy and filthy hardcore Punk.
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here Thanks for the compliment. There is a pretty good punk bar called The Terminal Bar 2-3 blocks down the street from my house. I haven't been there for a few years but it kicked ass 5-6 years ago. Otherwise the best places in Mpls are on the West Bank of the U of M campus: Triple Rock (owned by members of Dillinger Four), and 400 Bar and to a lesser extent Five Corners Saloon. There is also the legendary First Ave along with the attached 7th St. Entry downtown in the warehouse bar district but First Ave caters to so much more than just punk. If you want to go back in time Mpls also produced The Replacements, Suicide Commandos, Husker Du, and before Soul Asylum lightened their sound and made it big on the alternative scene they were a pretty legit punk band that went by the name Loud Fast Rules.
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here CIV sucked after GB, but Walter started Quicksand and Quicksand was fucking amazing. We counting post-punk and post-hardcore stuff in this thread? Also, Capital is the best hardcore band formed in the last 5-10 years. http://www.myspace.com/capitallihc
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic h hey taxes have you gone to five guys yet i ask because i just partook in a meal from its antecedent establishment before it became a world-spanning franchise and im properly sated

Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here The good ol' days: AFI- The Lost Souls Lyrics Some must have albums: AFI - Black Sails In The Sunset (GOAT) Against Me! - The Disco Before The Breakdown EP (Easily this band's best work ever, 3 incredible songs) Alkaline Trio - Goddamnit (From Here To Infirmary is weaksauce compared to Goddamnit, Taxes ain't know shit) The Clash - London Calling (Top 10 of all music ever) Crimson Spectre - S/T Dillinger Four - Midwestern Songs of the Americas Kid Dynamite - Cheap Shots Youth Anthems (FUCK YEAH!) Lawrence Arms - Oh! Calcutta! Tsunami Bomb - The Invasion From Within (Bitch could get my Vitamin D) 7 Seconds - Good To Go Also look for the Kevin Seconds/Matt Skiba split - pretty good stuff there.
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here yeah i know goddamnit is their best work but fhti is closer to lxa's taste also apathy & exhaustion is the lawrence arms best album and i too am in love with agent m

Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here I'm like all of them but A wilhelm scream... great recommendations on the others though. domo. also d/l tsunami bombs, goddamnit, and the lawrence arms are all solid. thanks again.
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here If anyone here gets into more blasting "screamo"-style punk you may dig acts like Ampere, Circle Takes the Square, Saetia, Sinaloa, Funeral Diner, City of Caterpillar, La Quiete//Raein, or Daitro.
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here do not want screamo... I'm more of a "clean vocals with a little bit of screaming" fan
