I hope they don’t explain a lot of the weird shit. I’m not sure I want an explanation for the waffle party, etc. and I know that’s not what you were necessarily doing allothersnsused, but I’m off the opinion that a lot of the “weirdness” of the world is better left to our imagination.
I mean they kind of by definition can’t possibly tie everything off. I think it’s fine to use the waffle party orgy to show that whatever is going on at Lumon is even spookier and weirder than it seems.
it’s a reenactment of the painting outside of Ms. Casey’s office that Irv & Burt admire which depicts Kier Eagan taming “the Four Tempers” (Woe, Dread, Frolic & Malice), represented by a maiden, crone, jester & goat. The whip sitting on the bed has 9 tails each of which is labeled with one of Kier/Lumon’s core virtues. During the group’s visit to the Perpetuity wing it’s mentioned that Eagan attributed his success to being able to master the 4 emotions via these virtues. Whether or not Dylan was actually supposed to put on the giant Kier head and whip them or actually have sex seems vague.
I don’t think I’ve seen this mentioned here yet but it’s interesting that the 4 folders on their computer screens in which they drop those numbers are labeled WO, FC, DR & MA which may also represent the 4 tempers somehow.
If you read the Lexington Letter on Apple Books the appendix is the MDR training manual. It give a lot of insight (well, not a lot, lol) into MDR
Crushed through this show in a week. So deeply disturbing and darkly funny, often at the same time. Can’t wait for season 2
Not sure if it’s been discussed already ITT but in addition to everything else that’s great about the actual show, the opening title sequence for it is one of my faves ever
Blew through it this weekend. Could not stop watching and at the end found out there was not a conclusion Nonetheless looking forward to season 2
Awesome show. Binged in a week. Unfortunately in my experience shows like this tend to quickly get worse as time goes on and they are forced to build upon the initial world they have constructed. Hoping for the best here but there’s some Lost/Westworld potential.
REally liked this song from the score/soundtrack. I'm a sucker for a violin (or similar type string instrument)
i'm through four episodes and i think this show is pretty fascinating. i haven't been spoiled on anything so going to try and finish this week.
I think (and I would imagine this is the consensus) that it got better and better as the season goes on. Enjoy
100%. We watched weekly, until we fell back a week. But even when catching up in relative quick succession, I wanted to enjoy each episode as its own thing. It really was a perfect show for a weekly release and I’m already looking forward to watching season 2
Oh for sure. I was referencing Spoiler Ms Casey saying “please try to enjoy each fact about your outie equally”
i cannot believe that's how this fucking show ended. i thought this was a standalone show. i am so upset.
god, this show was really great. it felt like a season-long black mirror episode where the anxiety and stress and tenseness is ramped up to 100%. everything is so peculiar and it fucks with me and keeps me engaged with the show. every new reveal in the successive episodes were mind-shattering. even though i binged the show, i still took time in between each episodes to digest what i saw. i did a great job of avoiding spoilers and now get to go through and read reddit and listen to podcasts. but, man, i had no idea this show would extend beyond this season and the show ending on that cliffhanger was brutal.
My outie met a guy who looks exactly like Dylan. My outie received food from him. My outie wished my order was for waffles.
Spoiler I wonder if outside Irv saw some aspect of his innie Irv experience, like innie Irv has with the black paint seeping into his visions. Started him down the path of figuring out wtf was going on down there.
Watched it the last two weeks. I feel like the idea and execution was strong enough without the Lost/dystopia/sci-fi vibes. I didn’t give a fuck about the cult of Eagan, I was just interested in how the innie/outie dichotomy played out. The idea of severance itself is enough for a ton of storylines without the seven layer dip of backstory.
Late to the party. Went into this show without knowing anything about it. It was simply outstanding. One of the best shows I’ve ever watched.
Just watched this in like 2 days. Best new show in a long time. Milchick is an unbelievable character, also Zack Cherry is fucking great as Dylan as well.
No one will listen to me :( “I’m in the middle of X show I’ll watch it next” *a few weeks later* “Did you start Severance?” “No I’m in the middle of *new show* I’ll watch it next” They don’t deserve its greatness
Im not gonna lie this show was starting to lose my interest a little till episode I think 7 when mark S witnesses that murder. Really picks up after that
Episodes 7-9 are some of the best tv I’ve ever seen what do we think their job is? I don’t think they’re actually doing anything productive
Read this https://imgur.io/a/GOiKxEa you can also download on Apple Books the numbers mean something. The buckets are the tempers. Could just be an experiment, but seems like they actually mean/do something. hopefully this show is completely mapped out and they have an actual ending. A lot of these shows they create this world and mystery, but don’t know how it ends and it turns to shit
I am 1/3 of the way through that. What exactly is this and how and why was it released? This seems to have major potential spoilers.
It was released by the show. Similar to their LinkedIn page https://www.linkedin.com/posts/lumon-industries_ad-activity-6910745385338617856-ZY_f
