is there an outdoor temperature it has to be at for it to be soup season? bc it was 80 something in dc today
Made Brunswick stew last week with leftover pork butt I smoked. Always a favorite around here. Think I found the recipe on here a few years back. That sausage tortellini soup looks great. Need to branch out some.
Smoked pozole verde is a house specialty of mine. I use this recipe to loosely structure the recipe but any and everything that can get smoked, well, it gets smoked! Daniel Ocean https://www.bonappetit.com/recipe/posole-verde-with-chicken
It was getting close to soup season in SoCal and then today we had some Santa Ana winds and was windy and in the low 80s today

I’ve never had pozole with anything other than pork. I’ll try this but with pork. Hopefully my wife will make some next Sunday.
Team soup. Was craving chicken noodle then happened to get sick and that chicken noodle soup saved me and got me back right in 36 hours. Will be making some of the recipes in here soon. Working the bar during the week I like to come home to something easy and leftover soup is the best
The go-to move in our house of four is to buy a big whole chicken and do one meal with that (roast, smoke/grill), then save the leftover meat and throw all the carcass in the slow-cooker. Takes like two minutes to throw in chopped onion, celery, herbs, etc., fill with water and cook on low until the next day, then we have the stock and chicken for whatever soup we want and the house smells awesome for 24 hours. Will be watching for all y'all's chicken/soup recipes.
My ability to make potato soup (using half sweet potatoes), split pea soup and a variety of butternut squash soups is the only reason mrs constant puts up with me.
here in the enchanted panhandle of majestic Fla the only soup is in the trousers but it's year round so
what’s the point of this? There are a ton of threads on here that I don’t care about so guess what I do. I simply don’t care enough to go in them. I’ve “known” you long enough to know I don’t agree with the majority of your opinions so this one doesn’t surprise me much. It just seems lame to me to go into a thread simply to say you don’t like the subject matter. If you don’t like soup stay out of the soup thread.
If you don’t like 7 mares or pozole if you can’t enjoy a good simple chicken noodle soup if caldo de res or de pollo aren’t comfort foods 1 you have shit taste and 2 I feel sorry for you.
Thread title is flawed. It implies that every season isn't soup season. 95 degrees out and I'm still ordering the soup
If you look at the first pic from the cook, I have a chicken boiling. I make stock with it and use that chicken for salad, lunch meat, etc and then add the smoked chicken to the broth for the soup.
