What? No This isn’t 1950. There’s 13-14 games a season for most teams. 9 wins isn’t hard. 33 teams won 9 games last year. UW is a top 25 program.
They should win 9+ more often than not but there's going to be some 7-5 and 8-4. It's the NFL, but look at Sean Payton. He had a lot of success, then had 3 straight 7-9 seasons. That gets coaches fired in college.
Saying they should win 9 games more often than not is not the same as saying they should win 9-10 a year. Going 7-5, 10-2, 9-3, 8-4 over 4 seasons isn't terrible at UW.
Wasn't so much of that as much as keeping Herman was no longer an option to the boosters, a sidegrade was considered an upgrade.
Still curious how stating the team went 0-12 the year before he got there is taking something out of context.
Harbaugh is a good example of what I talking about. He's gone 10-3, 10-3, 8-5, 10-3, and 9-4 in his 5 full seasons at UM. 2-4 this year. And there's legit talk of him not being back at UM. If he was anyone but Harbaugh, he'd be fired. I don't like him at all but that's insane to fire him. You'll need to hire the next Saban/Dabo to do much better. Sure it sucks to lose to OSU every year but they are a top 3 program right now. Running through coaches every 5 years trying to be top 3 is dumb imo.
Reasonably talented teams can quit on their coaching staffs. New staff then looks like miracle workers. Tedford accomplished spectacular turnarounds at Cal (1-10 in 2001 to 10-2 in 2004) and Fresno State (1-11 in 2016 to 10-4 in 2017). Neither Cal nor Fresno State has the institutional advantages and recent tradition of winning that UW enjoys. It shouldn't take five years to get past 7-6 at UW. Sark as HC is, and has been, all hat and no cattle
Locker got hurt at some point. You can create any spin you want. 0-12 is 0-12. The program was in really bad shape when he got there. They won 12 games in 5 seasons before he got there.
Agreed. The lengths people will go to shit on a coach is weird. He took over a program in really bad shape and took them to 9-4 a few years later. That's a solid job. Is he Saban/Dabo? No. But not many are.
Your need to shit on him is weird. I get that he coached at some programs you don't like but it's clouding your view. He's a solid coach. Will he be great at UT? No clue.
Some of us actually watched the Sark slo-mo train wreck in conference for ten years and understand that he is massively overrated as a head coach. Good OC, but not capable of running a program. I'm getting the frustrated vibe from UT fans that they think Herman cost them games with his in-game decisionmaking. Sark did exactly the same thing at UW and SC, and the joke was that he'd cost his team two games a year. Might be different now that he's dry, but show me a coach at 40 and I have a good idea of what he'll be like at 46 But thanks loads for your wiki-insight!
First 5 seasons as a HC. Coach A: 6-5 6-6 7-5 6-6 9-2 Coach B: 5-7 7-6 7-6 7-6 8-4 Spoiler Coach B sucked. Coach A is Saban.
Team sark. I'm excited for the longhorns to reclaim their position as the state's premier program from TCU
Oregon is getting their ass kicked but The Banks, who had them top 4 at one point iirc, would rather argue with me on the internet than watch his team play.
What context clue now? Is Oregon not playing? You'd rather argue with me than watch Oregon. That's hilarious.
I said he was a good coordinator but hasn’t had the success he should at his HC stops. When you started talking out of your ass I had to correct the narrative.
From reading this thread I have learned there is either a bunch of stupid fucking posters on here or ones that form a lot of shitty opinions and then just dig their heels in.
FWIW I will never give two runny craps what happens at Texas. I just think it's hilarious that this dudebrah keeps getting chances. THIS TIME WILL BE DIFFERENTER
That I was making fun of Clemson fans. This apparently amazes you but I can type and watch a game at the same time. This Oregon game was over when Mario punted with 4th and 2 at mid field.
He took over a UW program in terrible shape and took them to 9 wins. He had 1 year at USC. Sure, if you have delusional standards for UW and think USC should win a NC every year, maybe he didn't have success. Most people don't have that ridiculous standards though.
I've also made it clear that I think he's a good OC. It's also a bit easier when you're playing with Bama talent and in a program run by one of the strictest motherfuckers in Christendom, which is what Sark seems to need
Different than what? You act like he was awful at previous jobs. He wasn't. He did a solid job turning UW around and had 1 year at USC.
