I watched Host last night Only 1 hr, filmed during quarantine, director never met the actors and no one was in same place
Anyone have a good campy horror rec on Netflix or Prime? Wife wants to watch a horror movie tonight, but nothing too scary. She loved Fear Street if there’s anything along those lines.
Forcing my very reluctant wife to watch some scary movies. Watched Hush (B-: tense, isolation cabin killer thriller) last night. Have the following questions up for the rest of the month: Shitty AMC Show of a Sacred Deer His House (B: creepy movie about a couple dealing with trauma) He Never Died (D: is for “dogshit”, Rollins had some funny deadpan delivery moments but overall this one was painful) Gerald’s Game The Bad Batch Crimson Peak (C: drama with ghosts, weak story but visually strong as you’d expect from GDT, Huddleston was excellent) Any Netflix horrors/thrillers I'm missing? Anything worth skipping on that list? edit - every time , we’re three in on the month, updating with my official BrickTamland movie ratings
everyone should watch the Vincent Price Poe films for Halloween. Just perfect atmosphere. Also if you’re into camp, semi-comedic horror check out Flesh for Frankenstein and Blood for Dracula
It still boggles my mind that Resident Evil has become such a phenomenon with the setting having such a juvenile, fucking ridiculous name like Raccoon City.
This looks way better than it has any business being. Also I loved those paranormal movies. I watched 2,3,4 back to back to back one Sunday. I slept with the light on that night.
https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/vhs94 Sitting at 95% right now, probably going to have to give it a watch soon.
Malignant was.....a movie The 76% on Rotten Tomatoes has me absolutely flummoxed. Looking forward to the How Did This Get Made episode on it though lol
It’s so absurd and ridiculous. I laughed my ass off the entire time. The opening clues me in that it was going to be B-movie schlock. It’s essentially Basket Case with a solid director, big budget and some giallo film style mixed in. The reveal takes this flick to another level but I didn’t expect the wanna be Matrix.
I was high as a kite when I started it and could not figure out if the hospital scene was supposed to be like it was, then I figured it was intentional and I loved it from there on.
Did I miss some part of the explanation where it told how a backward knife gymnast can kill an entire squad of gun toting cops?
Idk man….the reveal had me laughing. Why was the jail cell so large, why were there caricatures locked up in there. The police station looked like it was from a gothic story. Granted I was on my 4th old fashion but I enjoyed the absurdity. I hope it was on purpose but I’m not sure. The Pixie’s song made me laugh. The damn snap zooms, the mediocre attempts at Italian giallo shots. The sheer size of the house, the cell, the station, the Seattle underground with 19th century era carriages.
Terrible job establishing whether it was supernatural or a genetic defect. Idt it’s a good thing when I’m watching your movie and I think you ripped off Basket Case.
I think that’s the problem, people went in expecting the conjuring, they got what you described, a giallo starring Belial.
I think I would’ve been upset/annoyed if they didn’t have that intro scene. The spooky asylum on the edge of the cliff, the lightning in the background and the shot bathed in red with the line delivery…..”it’s time to cut out the cancer” or “it’s communicating through the radio” but part of me wonders how I would feel if this was presented like a typical James Wan film and then the jail cell reveal happened.
I see it getting the Halloween 3/ trick r treat treatment where in 10 years people are going crazy about how great it is, just has the feel to me.
Not going to lie, I’ve liked Halloween 3 more and more each year. I’ve added it to my October rotation.
I never see that movie on TV. The script PDF is on scriptslug and I might have to give it a read tonight.
The whole movie is amazing but the scene in The Shining when the wife realizes Jack Nicholson has gone insane and he stalks her up the stairs is sooooo fucking intense and freaky and good. Nicholson really fucking killed this role.
