I swear, people who complain about the Scream movies must have either never watched the original ones or forgotten what those movies were actually like before you nostalgia-brained them. V and VI were a blast.
I’m definitely biased for reasons explained in the scream thread but exactly this. The movies were always like this and 5/6 are spot on
had several involuntary reactions watching this and had to take breaks. was an excellent movie but my god.
I saw it at the cinema so I couldn't pause it and had nowhere to go. I got very squirmy there a couple of times.
I had to watch it over a few nights. There were parts that I just could not continue because of how uncomfortable it made me feel.
I saw the first two in the theater it’s been down hill since (and having rewatched those recently when Scream 5 came out they don’t hold up well at all imo). The writing in these new ones is so cringey. Fucking ghost dad? It’s just so stupid. It’s not fun, the twists are predictable and a series predicated on social/horror commentary and unpredictability has completely lost both.
few things: the movie absolutely continues on social and horror commentary. If anything, that's one of the most obvious things happening in these new movies and for you to say it has "lost" that aspect of the series is confusing. Secondly, do you remember the plots and reveals to everything after the original scream? Also, how was the twist to #5 predictable outside of hindsight 20/20ing the movie? if you just want to say you don't like the movies or franchise any more, that's fine. but given your complaints, you've either aged out of enjoying the movies or are just being a crank without valid reasons.
Loved the new Evil Dead. It wasn’t as good as the first in the franchise reboot but it did have a little more of that “fun” vibe to it and definitely made an effort to be referential to the source material.
I enjoyed Scream VI, it was fun and stupid, exactly what I wanted. I did cringe when Kirby would pop up though, did not like her at all in this one. I thought they were going to play the movie out with us knowing who the killer was after the first kill and really like the idea of exploring things that way, maybe in the future.
I was kind of surprised by some of the hate it got in here. It’s a brutal, fun ride. More consistent than BARBARIAN
Season 1 of the show "from" finally moved from mgm+ to prime. Just started it, but looks pretty decent after 1 episode
Evil Dead Rise was fun and a good gorefest. I enjoyed the apartment set piece but Poltergeist 3 did it better. The contrast between modern hotel becoming the upside down, the multiple locations (the room, the parking garage, the pool, hallways) was visually more diverse. EDR looked fantastic but it was that unrealistic spooky haunted house. The greatest thing about Evil Dead 2 is the creativity of Rami and his shot compositions. The biggest weakness of 2013 Evil Dead and 2023 EDR. They lack the frenetic creativity of the originals.
Looks infinitely better than The Heretic, The Beginning and Dominion. But nothing will top the original and part 3.
Is ‘Malibu Horror Story’ The Found Footage Movie We’ve Been Waiting For? https://ihorror.com/is-malibu-horror-story-the-found-footage-movie-weve-been-waiting-for/
Was surprised to see a poster for Slotherhouse at the theater today, assumed that was a direct to streaming gem.
i loved HOST and DashCam. This just felt derivative AND not fun. Definitely didn’t need to be two hours.
just watched it. I feel like it’s been a minute since I’ve seen a genuinely creepy, unsettling horror film and this had creepiness in spades
