So from what I gathered in Longlegs... Spoiler from Longlegs describing it....when given the doll, families had 2 choices: keep it and become I guess "minions" of Satan or destroy it and it would cause the family to all kill each other. And the only family that kept their doll, the Cameras, all went nuts, which they showed in the flashback. Am I getting that right? Because no other dolls were recovered at any of the other families. It wasn't 100% clear cause Cage wasn't the easiest to understand
Another Longlegs thing that I’ve never seen in a movie before. Not really a spoiler, but the end credits scroll DOWN, not up.
I rate it a 9.5 out of 10 Nothing here is a spoiler. Thought if they would have fleshed out some stuff a little bit better it could have been a 10 Nicholas Cage in that role That fucker was terrifying.
Got around to watching Cure today and that's probably the most similar film to Longlegs of all of these. Great movie
Wife works at a library, so watched the first three via (old school) blue ray. Hannibal Rising was free on Tubi, but I would not recommend wasting your time unless you are feeling committed to the full franchise.
Seeing a weird pattern of people on TikTok calling Longlegs a thriller or even a “crime drama.” Like really going out of their way to not call it a horror film… Spoiler I know it seems easy to called it a procedural because it follows an FBI agent, but it has dolls demonically possessing people. The main character received a phone call from the fucking Devil toward the end of the movie. That’s a fucking horror movie
Don’t read the rest of the interview until you’ve seen the movie. It’s a really insightful read though.
thought Longlegs was terrible and anyone who compares it to Silence, even tangentially, is a fucking moron than deserves to be beaten with a tack hammer a complete and total let down
Almost like people can have different interpretations of a movie! Spoiler I really liked the cinematography; they really new how to subvert expectations with camera angles; clearly leaving an opening for something creepy to happen in the back ground, but 75% of the time not doing it, which leaves you tense and makes it better when they do do it. Over all I thought the acting was really good across the board. But honestly Nick Cage being in it took me out of the movie cuz it’s just Nick Cabe doing weird Nick Cage shit. I did NOT like that (to me anyway) Longlegs’s seems trans or queer coded, given the outfit, heavy makeup, long hair, and especially that kiss to the camera at the end. That’s a horror movie trope that belongs on the ash pit of history. I also thought that they hand-fed you some of the turns in the plot, a bit to much tell not show. “Hi Lee, it’s almost your BIRTHDAY and let me introduce you to my daughter who’s having a BIRTHDAY soon.” Like I said, it wasn’t awful but in no way lives up to the hype it got.

All of Oz Perkins films are slow burns but this is the first with opening day hype. I’m not saying folks in this thread don’t appreciate or like slow burns but when a movie has ridiculously high hype around it, slow burns are like water torture.
My complaint isn’t with the pacing even though the investigation and build up felt disjointed, rushed and largely irrelevant, but that it went completely off the rails to the point of absurdity in the 3rd act
Idk why people feel like the third act was such a mess it felt pretty telegraphed to me Cage definitely watched the Terrifier movies beforehand
Nothing pisses me off than seeing the Speak No Evil american remake trailer 1. Fuck Blumhouse honestly. Just the studio version of throwing enough shit on the wall and see which one sticks. Luckily almost nothinh sticks. but mainly 2. There was no reason to remake this film other than to bastardize this movie by making it more “American” like this country does time and time again and I’m just disappointed McAvoy decided to sell his soul for this
Your post got me intrigued about the original film (which I wasn't aware of) so I googled it and I'm stunned it only came out 2 years ago.
I've seen the trailer all 3 times I've been to the movies in the US over the past month, and it's equal parts disturbing and frustrating. I'm really not sure what to make of it. I doubt I'll end up watching it but I'm curious to see what the reviews are like and whether McAvoy can elevate it.
Not sure if it's been discussed in the thread, but just watched Lowlifes. What a fun movie. Flew under my radar being a Tubi original, but I really enjoyed it. Highly recommend.
Two is mediocre but watchable. Three is so poorly reviewed I refuse to watch it. Four is really good, not as good as the original but still really good.
They are all fun and worth watching imo, varying quality like any franchise but certainly worth at least a passive watch.
I liked 2 a lot. It's worth watching imo. Never watched 3 because it got such poor reviews. 1 and 4 are great.
No. 4 is VERY loosely tied to 1 and 2, at least from what I can remember. I think just watching 1 would be enough to understand what few references I can remember. Of course there may be references to 3 in there that I wouldn't even know.
Yes. Absolutely well crafted slow creep of a film. Loved how uncomfortable it tried to make its audience.
I was watching M Night's Signs for the first time in like 20 years last night. Cracking my self right up about an alternative ending where the aliens' secret weakness isn't water, but rather getting beaten to death with a bat
Watched In A Violent Nature tonight finally. It was decent, somewhere in between the critic reviews and the audience reviews. You definitely know that one kill when you get to it. Absurd
