When you slow burn like Long Legs did you really got to do something explosive in the last parts of the movie, like Silence of The Lambs or even Hereditary did. Long Legs did not so it’s just an okay little weird movie. If you can truly put yourself in the mom and daughter’s shoes then the movie is utterly horrific. But I couldn’t so the ending just sort of made me shrug :(
I liked Longlegs a lot but definitely wouldn’t put it in The Silence of the Lambs tier (final act was definitely a little rough). Cage being in it didn’t hurt my experience at all because I had no idea that was even him in the movie. I thought he was just a producer or something.
Saw Longlegs this morning and it deserved to be built up. Probably my favourite horror this year. I was especially impressed that they stuck the landing. I don't get the complaints about the 3rd act - I thought the movie continued to build and finished on a creepy high. Spoiler: Not really a spoiler Hail Satan indeed.
Spoiler I think the third act is probably just an expectations thing. I did not expect it to be horror horror where it's a possession type thing that is causing the murders. I expected it to be more of the Zodiac/Seven type so the third act comes off very weird with those expectations. But it's not the movie's fault that I had incorrect expectations, it will make people think there are issues with it though.
Okay, I get that. The only thing I would say in response is... Spoiler Early on, it's established that the fathers are the ones killing their families after supposedly having an encounter with Longlegs, so right there I'm thinking there's something 'extranormal' going on. Plus the whole satanic worship stuff, of course. Considering how creepy the advertising for this film has been - and I'd only even seen a portion of it - I wasn't ruling anything out.
Spoiler it doesnt help that the director kept saying he was trying to channel silence of the lambs and he wanted the 90s vibe of a female fbi agent and a serial killer that doesnt mean it cant be possession stuff, but it certainly plays into the expectations part
Probably not the perfect place to put this but I just stumbled upon hellblazers and I am high as fuck. The scene with the old vet had me crying
Horror in the High Desert 3 was really good. If you liked the first two you’ll like the third for sure.
Abigail was ok. Starting Malignant. Never seen it. I need good/messed up horror movie recs on streaming.
define “messed up” Human Centipede 2 is one of the few movies I had to force my self to finish and I’d probably never watch again. A Serbian Film is fucked up too. Irreversible the original was a hard to watch as well. Martyrs iirc
I’ve seen all you’ve listed. So you’re in the ballpark. I used to watch a lot of horror movies. I haven’t seen many new horror movies over the last 5 or so years? Maybe more. I catch a couple here and there.
Agreed. Had more going on. The first one was a lot of build up for like 5 minutes of action at the end.
I feel like the trailer likely gives away too much, but I doubt I'll remember any of it by the time I get to watching this
Thought Arcadian was pretty meh. Felt like a total ripoff of A Quiet Place but it also wasn’t the worst movie I’ve seen either.
Anyone seen this by chance? Reviews are good but I don’t think it’s steaming anywhere yet. https://m.imdb.com/title/tt26470109/
I think I speak for all college football fans when I say that any movie called Bagman should be about their rival’s best recruiter. And if not their own rival then at least that Auburn WR coach they used to have for several years.
I really liked it other than Spoiler thinking there's a lot of "not getting torn to shreds by monsters" options for her to off herself at the end.
Spoiler Said the same thing to my kid when we left the theatre. Probably gonna use all those pain meds dude risked his life for along with the booze the the jazz club. Put the headphones on and let Prince of Darkness put you to sleep.
Just finished Maxxxine as well. Also another 6/10 movie. I liked the other two in the trilogy but this one just didn’t do it for me
I need something to stream tonight. This is on Shudder now and the RT scores are solid. https://m.imdb.com/title/tt21397580/
Watched the Japanese psychological horror movie “Cure” last night and thought it was awesome. https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0123948/
