it just wasn't that exciting of a year for me, could've put a list together of my favorites but it's not as fun when there isn't that album or two leading the way that you continuously come back to
Been listening to Empty Country a bunch this week and still bummed Cymbals Eat Guitars broke up. Gosh they were amazing
this is one of the best new bands in a while Bloodslide - Trap Door I might take off a few days once the next Preoccupations album comes out because it's gonna wreck me
New band, just some singles out at the moment but I like, hopefully an album will follow suit shortly.
This is that group with the Protomartyr guitarist right? Vaguely remember hearing the first track from them and digging it too edit: yeah just read the description, cool band so far
Meg Duffy from Hand Habits joining up with Joel Ford to form a band called yes/and they'll have an album out in July they released a couple tracks and one seems to be about the Tennessee Vols. It is called Ugly Orange Spoiler other is Centered Shell Spoiler the guitar in this song is so Protomartyrish. And paired with the Preoccupations drums and haunting vocals
maybe its because it came out so late last year and nothing so far this year has really wowed me, but the last avalanches album is my literal happy place these days. I listen to it once or twice a week, just 70 min of enjoyment.
anyone have a favorite Youtube playlist of sets that are good for background listening when having people over?
nov3l releasing late May early June, looking forward to that as well. I posted that single but wasn’t sure on an album then. Group disease is fantastic IMO.
digging the jazzy prog direction black midi's seemingly moved on to, May's looking like a promising month
think that track skewed my algorithm in a good direction Black Country, New Road - Opus album came out in February
Speaking of Squirrel Flower, June 25th might be the best album release day of the year. Squirrel Flower Lucy Dacus Faye Webster Lightning Bug Maple Glider Pom Pom Squad Cedric Burnside
This is one of my favorite covers (Frightened Rabbit - so sad). I saw them live a few years ago and they are just so good. So far I like the album, but I think I need a few more plays to really get it.
Seen them several times, and they're fantastic. I agree with you on the new album. It sounds good, but it didn't really draw me in on the first listen.
not sure Ive seen a band nail the mid/late 90s vibe from 120 minutes videos better than these guys have so far
