We love our Travel Pro carryons, smoothest/easiest rolling bag I’ve owned. Only overheads that I’ve had a problem with it fitting in are on the shitbox CRJs that United still sends to Tulsa on certain routes, fits in the ERJ 175s no problem
Cue the guy who made fun of us all for using spinner luggage we have Beis luggage and they have been fantastic.
Got a Beis bag for Christmas. The multiple interior compartments sold me. The memory foam-like grip handle was a nice surprise.
I have a couple Tumi carry-ons that I love. One of the aluminum ones and then a basic ballistic nylon that has some years on it. Never had a bag roll better or hold up as well on trips.
Just ordered the bigger carry on from Away because I’m a basic bitch who is a sucker for Instagram ads.
Nope. It’s never been an issue for me whether it’s an older plane of any model. We have three of the bigger and one with the extender carryons and the extender one works fine too. Never an issue in a decade
Is there a Miami write up in this thread going at the end of the month and spending time between coral gables and south beach?
GE also has to be done for everyone in your family and doesn’t apply to young kids like pre check, which kinda sucks
Does anyone have a stay at a Hyatt with a club in the next two months? I have a couple club lounge access certificates that expire the end of February and I won’t use them.
Looking for any London and Florence hotel recs prefer somewhere that is a good walking location to sights and restaurants Lyrtch
I stayed at the Sina villa Medici in Florence. No complaints. Andaz London Liverpool street also great. Right by the metro too
We stayed at an airbnb on Via Dei Neri near Santa Croce and the Ponte alle Grazie. Liked the spot, seemed close to a lot of cool stuff but a bit of a walk to the Accademia Hike up to San Miniato and listen to the Gregorian chants, then tell me what I missed
Looking for budget friendly in Florence? Florence Plus Hostel. They have normal rooms too, not just multi bed rooms. It’s not a bit of a hike but not bad.
This place is short walk from Buckingham Palace, Parliament, etc. in a fairly affluent area in Belgravia. Victoria Station is two blocks away for the trains elsewhere. https://www.tophamshotel.net/?td=g0...ACu7wlJ6iv3cf48tEVAXigeYTXF4COE8aAgUoEALw_wcB
You can save a lot of money by staying in one of the outer London zones and then taking the tube in to the center. Overground/underground trains run about every 5 minutes on the main lines. Don't know your budget but hotels in Zone 1 or Zone 2 are shockingly expensive, even the budget hotels.
Starting to lock my Spain/Lisbon trip in for April. Only thing I have booked so far is my flight into Madrid and staying here: https://www.melia.com/es/hoteles/espana/madrid/palacio-de-los-duques-gran-melia Thinking after that we will do little stays in Toledo, Cordoba, Granada, and Seville as we work our way to Lisbon. I'll go back through the thread and try and find any Spain/Lisbon recs but highly appreciate any that people want to throw in now.
I really like Alicante. It's not a big place, but has a lovely sea-front walk, a good castle, good public transport, good beach, touristy enough that most places speak English but not so much that you can't find Spanish-only areas. Had smoked octopus the last time I was there that was fucking outstanding.
We're flying to Sevilla late March. Plan is to rent a car to get to Tarifa, park it somewhere for two days while we ferry to/from Tangier, then head to Ronda, Granada, and Cordoba. Had to cut Cadiz and Cartagena out of the itinerary because wife can't stay away from work for too long
We cut Barcelona out due to similar reasons. Figured we will try and get back some time and just do a Northern Spain trip in itself.
We have a tentative itinerary for a Barcelona to Marseille trip, going through Perpignan Nimes Montpelier Arles/Avignon. Madrid/Segovia/Toledo/Bilbao/San Sebastian would be another trip, if we ever get around to it
We rented a car and drove to Sevilla, Gibraltar and Malaga. Very easy to drive around. Definitely pick up the car when you're done with Sevilla. Some of those streets aren't fitting anything bigger than a go-kart.
Yeah, I figure there will be issues with driving/parking in the towns and cities where we plan to stay. Probably have to do what we did in Piran last summer, park in a long-term garage on the outskirts and make our way in by other means. I like the idea of using public transportation in Europe, but looking at that area it seems like using a car might be better than bus/train. Granada-Cordoba-Sevilla is probably OK with their high speed rail, but Andalusia looks mountainous and the Spanish don't seem to make it easy to get down into the Gibraltar area
I've posted about it before, but this is absolutely correct. We started in Madrid and then ventured to those three, plus a day trip to Toledo, via train. Then, picked up a car at the Sevilla train station on our last day there and drove down to the coast. Did a night each in Cadiz, Lagos and Sagres before driving up to Lisbon and spending a few days there/Sintra.
Would very much like to do this trip sometime. Got a friend in the Lagos/Burgau area I wouldn't mind seeing again
It was amazing - it's definitely my favorite trip I've ever been on. The food was absolutely incredible.
Be sure to eat at Apeadeiro for authentic Portuguese food that caters to the locals. The owner cooks the dishes in the back and the wife makes the pastries behind the counter.
Think we are settled on 10 days in Madeira (Portugal) for our honeymoon in October. Place looks amazing and checks a lot of the boxes for us. Anyone ever been/have recs?
I think Gin Buckets went everything I have heard and read about it is fantastic. We were actually planning to go there several years ago but then had some unexpected expenses come up so we went to Belize instead
I studied abroad in Copenhagen in 2006 and have been back a few times since but last visit was 2012 so Im a little out of the loop on where the best area to stay would be for a 4 night trip in the fall (my wife’s first time there). Would west side of center or Vesterbro still be the best area for the people that have been more recently? We’re mostly going to just be walking around reliving my study abroad days and eating.
I always split the trip half in nyhavn and half vesterbro. Transit getting better but still not great
