Amazing how if you put yourself in Nas's shoes you want to trust Freddy just because you almost HAVE to... But anyone observing the whole deal can sit back and say "Dont trust that motherfucker.... He wants a tutor? GMAFB"
That's the thing though. If he wanted to fuck him he could just rape him. No one would stop him and he wouldn't get in any trouble for it seeing as how he runs shit. He's also has a female guard he can bang whenever he wants to as well. I think he wants him under his thumb for something else just not sure at though.
No I see it the same way, Freddy needs him for something that isn't clear to us right now, not for some ass
It was a brief scene but can anyone explain why Box was pissed at the DA for offering a plea deal? Wouldn't he over everyone be hoping a deal could be bargained? Or is he like a work-obsessed principled type?
Just getting in on the thread- but want to add that I love the show, even the "slow" parts are great - it's just written and directed so well.
Which I don't really get. As much evidence as there is, something has to seem off about Naz committing such a crime. I really figured he would not feel 100% sure but would have to go with it being that's where the evidence takes him and no other apparent suspects.
that was before Naz told his story though right? I think Naz may have got some people at least on the fence from the "yea he did it 100%" camp. they still haven't said anything about the blood tests coming back. he literally had zero of the victims blood on him. the only blood he had after leaving the scene was his own hand getting cut on the window when he broke in to get his keys. that would be a hell of a clean job and assuming there wasn't/isn't any of his DNA anywhere in the bathroom shower area... that has to mean something to any competent human. let alone some "bad ass detective" like box
This. I think maybe Box gets a seed of doubt planted and maybe takes another look at the murder now. From what they've built him up to be, I think he may end up working with Stone on it. Just a wild prediction
I think the roommate was planted by the cops /his lawyer to get him to confess or plead out. Who carries a picture of their dead niece? Secondly it felt forced when he said "I can't bring myself to say her name" . Her being killed in a similar manner to the way Andrea was killed also seemed like too big of a coincidence. I think the baby oil was just a retaliation because he didn't plead out and maybe it fucked up the roommate's deal. It might have been Omar who got him put next to Naz but like dump said he looked too scared to have that attack as part of the plan. I truly believe we will find out the roommate was a plant.
yeah that is smart the best theory in all of tv though... Spoiler the fucking daughters did it in true detective
Watched it earlier tonight. Great episode, up there with the first for me. Love it bouncing back and forth between prison and the investigation/court stuff.
Rewatching. Early on stone in jail talking to a guy that stabbed a barber. Kid says he doesn't remember it and it was like a dream when the guy came at him with a machete. Hard pose and space out by Stone Spoiler He knows the cat came at Naz with a machete
Going out on a wire theory, Freddy maybe somehow tied to the creep that was with Bodie the night Naz and Andrea were walking into her house, and he is tied to the murder somehow. Bodie lied and said he was alone when he was questioned and Freddy I am sure has connections all over town. Maybe if he gets Naz to plea it would stop another investigation into Bodie's walking partner...... Like I said, VERY thin, but keep thinking about why Bodie lied and said he was alone. They haven;t addressed it, but I feel like it will come up again.
Stone goes to jail and talks to a potential client who got a bad haircut. won't leave. says the barber came out of the back room with a machete and the next thing he remembers is the cops being there and him holding a knife with the barber laying on the ground in a pool of blood. Stone blank stares for a good 5 seconds and then continues blank stare for the following scene walking away from jail. I honestly don't know what it means but I thought it was worth noting since it's similar to Naz blacking out while "someone"*** was presumably in the apartment mutilating a body. It may have been what spurred the whole Stone Detective act for the remainder of the episode.
I think that was simply to show he is still all in on the Nas case and can't concentrate on anything else.
Why? Writers (at least good ones) don't put shit in for shits and giggles. The friend staring at Naz is called foreshadowing. Bodie lying makes that stronger. We know he lied and have to ask ourselves why.
I think it just made him think about losing a client he believed in opposed to one who he felt was obviously lying to him.
Black guys don't stab people 22 times. It was someone she knew and I'm leaning towards the guy who fucked Mrs. Underwood.
step father rage story. i think the funeral conversation was having to do with the guy calling him looking for money. maybe step dad gets a piece of the assets if the daughter dies and there's no next of kin? I have no clue how estate shit works in that scenario
This has been my theory since stepfather was introduced. I'm betting he also killed her mother and Andrea knew it was coming soon
I'm even skeptical it was him though. You don't stab someone that many times without hating them unless they had a sexual relationship going at some point considering she was somewhat of a druggy whore. More likely an ex boyfriend. Also, who was the stepdad talking to at the funeral?
don't think we know who that guy is yet but the conversation sounded like he was tryin to get the stepdad to pay up for something. hell the whole family may be full of druggies that are in debt. weird as hell the step dad says "it's not her" from the get go when asked to ID her in the pictures
Only on episode 3, but I can't imagine they wasted our time showing the cat 3 different times for that not to play a role. Not to mention the automatic door lock. Thinking the killer had a key.
killer didn't need a key if they knew about the patio cat door. scene *i think shows it clearly not being closed/locked in any way when she lets the cat out
Honestly I doubt the objective is specific. Guys like him run jails through power, not for any particularized reason. You take someone fresh in, protect them, and then cash in the favor repeatedly.
That "plea" hearing cannot be real. That's an intense plea hearing if true. OopsPowSurprise defendant was taking a negotiated felony plea in nyc and they made him admit and reveal the facts of the case.
Haven't watched yet so thanks for the spoiler? Fucking a. but yeah they usually would have an allocution where you have to admit to certain circumstances
Hahaha sorry. But you can't tell what happens or will happen based off my post. I promise. It was just a random hearing in the show.
Re Freddy: I think his motives are pure. I don't think he has anything in mind other than gaining knowledge from Nas. However, I could see a favor popping up that Freddy might need. Actually, probably not far fetched if Freddy finds out who actually killed the girl. Re Nas: Finally stepping up. I was pumped when he told the female lawyer to quit. Nas's bedmate seemed nuts to me the whole time. I laughed at Nas trying to do the stare but not stare move. Bedmate probably killed the girl in his picture. Great move by Nas going to see Freddy and not being a rat about the hot water pour. Re Stone: He very well may get the Kapur girl to quit her firm to work on this case with him. Hopefully Stone can get some help with the investigation. Exculpatory evidence might be needed here. I'm assuming Stones skin disease shit is analogous to the case? Complex issue that requires thinking outside of the box. Poor Stone has been taking care of bad feet for a while now.
Ummm, idk. That case just says a judge can't prevent a D from taking a plea because he still claims to be innocent right? A judge doesnt have to accept a negotiated plea in Florida. My point is that a plea is a deal that favors all parties. The D can obviously plea no contest, but still be adjudicated guilty on all counts, and the facts should never be discussed. So what Oops said is silly to me. Unless of course that was part of the deal. Ex: 10 years manslaughter if you show us where the body is.
When I've plead people the da reads a summary of the facts from the accusation. The defendant either enters a guilty plea or an Alford plea. I've never heard of a defendant having to state the facts of the states case against him when entering a plea.
