Man, they keep expanding like crazy. Can’t help shake the feeling they are going to over extend themselves.
just finished my Very GGGreen and didn't take a pic. guess I will have to drink another one, snap a photo, and just be a zombie for the rest of the day. pic incoming
My boss was up there two weeks ago and brought all these back. He finished his half in like 5 days so he is already wanting more lol
Enjoyed Monument and Checkerspot as well when I was in Baltimore for a wedding a few years ago. Diamondback was our last stop before heading to BWI.
picked some of this up on Monday and absolutely loved it. Went back today and picked up 2 more 4 packs.
I never have anything to contribute to this thread, but had a buddy get me some BCBS this year, happy with the haul.
Is one of those the Eagle Rare? I got the normal and Bananas Foster one. Seems like the latter has not been very popular but I like imperial stouts, bananas, and Bananas Foster so I’m excited to try it.
Didn't get either of the bourbon varietals, $40 each was a bit steep for me. I got the Backyard, Bananas Foster, regular and last year's regular too. My buddy got the Eagle Rare. The beer bar we were at today had the Foster on tap, they weren't giving out samples but the bartender said the banana was pretty subtle
I went to Total Wine to pick up some mixing rye and I started to browse as one does. Happened upon a few bottles of the BCBS Eagle Rare. I couldn't not buy one, right?
Their production has increased dramatically ever since they took over the old Half Acre facility I do miss the exclusivity of the Tuesday drops at noon though.
I haven’t posted in this thread in forever but pulled this one out of the closet for Christmas Eve and it’s phenomenal. Thanks Fancy Four Christmases on the TV btw
Been sipping on this throughout the day making some bbq and watching football. $26 was absurd but had to give respect to the OG.
Breweries around me are doing big BBA stouts for about $9 per 16oz can that are as good if not better. I bought the BCBS on a nostalgic whim…no ragrets (but not paying like $1.25/oz again).
Married into a family of brewers. This year, BILs gifted me some of their extra equipment. Looking forward to brewing my own batch. Hoping to grow my own hops this spring and come up with something good for when we host Christmas next year. Not ready to invest in a refrigeration system, so whatever it is, it’s gonna be an ale. Any tips or advice in brewing much appreciated. I’m excited to give it a try, but also concerned I’m going to put a lot of time in and it’s going to be trash. Edit: ethnically Egyptian so I assume I’m going to be much better at brewing than I should be.
$9? Jeez. I think most of our breweries are around $10-12. $15 for very limited/special release versions. Yeah definitely not the novelty that it once was. I did buy a bottle of the standard variant and the Eagle Rare though. I do really like banana stouts though so I had high hopes. The local one I had was $9 for a 12 oz can and probably better.
For whatever reason, cans are much cheaper. The 375s are still $20+. Production can’t be that wacky to warrant a 100% markup for bottles so it’s something else that I don’t understand.
I haven't brewed in over a decade but it's one of those things you're going to make mistakes with and just have to learn from them if you're going to stick with it. Your first one (or several) probably won't be very good. And sometimes you make mistakes and things turn out fine. We were doing a stout one time and added way, way, way too many wood chips. Thought it was going to turn out awful but probably ended up being the best one we made. Too Much Wood Stout was a tremendous wood-forward home-brew.
i cleaning and temperature in my experience are hugely important to pay attention to w home brewing. Fermentation 10 degrees too high and your carboy is gonna be a volcanic eruption. Don’t clean properly/thoroughly and you’ll have a ton of off flavors
Another one from the back of the shelf. 10 years and still pretty good. Nice tribute to the # Chiefs win today as well Glassware in honor of #Arsenal #fans
Fucking well deserved Arsenal’s worst performance in a long time, part lack of rest but mostly Fulham very good
Brewing is easy. It's boiling water and sterilizing shit. Read up on fermentation temperatures. That'll be important to make good beer. If you live in a hot climate, kveik yeast can ferment at higher temps than your stand us-05 and not change the flavors of your batch much. I'd recommend starting with a darker beer - in my experience (couple decades now damn) those are a bit more forgiving taste wise. If you make a pale ale or IPA and fuck it up, you have 5 gal of trash. For a porter you won't notice it as much.
