I believe so. I think guys do that a lot especially for the cards that can get prestige level. Load the front of lineup with those guys, hope to get a hit, back out and repeat.
Yeah I got all star hits really quickly. Didn’t realize who I had but then I made all my bench all stars on events so every PH was an all star. Also used AS Giambi for some 1B thing because I didn’t want to do one moment for Bellinger. But yeah Reynolds is atrocious. I think I’m on 3 with him right now.
I was OK with him on the offline moments, but seriously may have went 0/12 online before I booted him.
Trying to rank up one more tier before the ranked season resets and I'm locked in a slugfest. 0-0 with 2 hits each through 6 innings. His Felix vs my Kluber and neither of us can do anything at the plate
Placement for next season, 377! Who do I have first game tonight? Fucking Hal and his old wrinkly balls.
Couldn’t get a damn hit to save my life on Events with those clowns. Guess I’ll try to do it again later.
Only time I’ve had luck on there is when I get a count in my favor. If guys are hitting corners and good pitchers I am done. Got one hit by Hal. Game crashed as it was loading out so hopefully it counted the loss against me. One win as a step up is like 3 losses in a row for me. Fuck this game.
Doesn’t help my “all star” cards consist of Henderson, Vizquel, and Granderson. So Rickey and Omar have like 35 power
My lineup is all power outside of Cobb. I don't make a lot of contact, so when I do I need it to go far.
Yeah there’s a reason those clowns aren’t in my regular lineup. Was hoping they could combine for one hit but...lol
Did a new season start? I was at like 573 after my W last night, iirc. Definitely due for 3-4 losses now that the difficulty is going up.
Says my final rating was 617, season high of 636, but my “placement” for next season is 450...guess I’ll take it haha
I wish I could put something on my controller to stop my joystick from pushing the PCI all the way/out of the zone.
Does it drop you down a level for the new season? And what happens to guys that finished in the WS? How does that work exactly? As soon as you make the WS you just quit for that season so you finish there?
It must drop you down, yeah. Honestly I’ve never paid attention to that screen but saw you guys saying the season ended. I think that’s right about the WS level, I saw some guy on YouTube talking about how he’s finished WS every “season” but wasn’t there this year because he was doing offline stuff and not playing ranked much so he needed to play a bunch over the weekend.
Had a friend last year that ended just about every rs In the 900s and would always start new in like the 600s or so
I think the highest you can start is 650. Even the guys that go all the way up to 1100 get kicked down to 650 so everyone has quite a bit of ground to make up to get to world series. But I have no idea where the thresholds are for where you finish in regards where you start.
What is WS? 900+? When they hit 900, do they just stop and wait to claim their prize at the end of the season?
Yeah ws is 900. Some do stop but some keep playing because there are rewards (but not really anything amazing- I think mostly stubs and packs) at 1000 and 1100 and maybe 1200. Also the difficulty jumps to legend at 900. I’ve played some games on hall of fame (700-899 I think) and if you’re facing a nasty pitcher it seems impossible. I can’t even imagine competing on legend.
If somehow I get lucky and like 6 guys disconnect and it gives me enough wins to be WS level I won’t sign on until I get the WS card. I probably wouldn’t make contact at that level.
Once you hit WS you are guaranteed the card. I believe it just goes off whatever your highest ranking was throughout the season. I could be wrong.
Just got on to play a quick game before dinner. He has Kluber pitching and first pitch of the game Lou Brock hits one 428ft and he quit lol Never had one that fast.
The last few days the amount of “good” timings I have that are like a millimeter out of the contact circle that are lazy pop ups are killing me.
Had that a lot too. Had several almost perfect timing that were inside the main circle but like halfway up the circle just be pop flys. So frustrating.
This is my life. I am retiring for at least a few days. I am back to not being able to hit the ground pissing. For a solid stretch I was consistently able to out hit my opponent just could not score. For whatever reason I just can't time a fastball. I also havent seen anything online that is good in terms of suggestions for this. Going into practice mode on Legendary is not something I'm going to do for 15 minutes a day or whatever.
Don't care who the SP is, I get geeked if they top out at 96. If they throw 100+, it's just guessing for me.
Glad I am not the only one. I just dont understand how people don't expose it more. If someone can locate a fastball with velo I'm a High A prospect at best.
I mess around early when I'm pitching to see what the guy is doing. Most guys will either 1) leave the PCI in the middle or 2) hold down on the left stick to mash low pitches. Vs 1, I move the ball around a lot. Vs 2, I throw off speed in the fucking dirt to let them see it and then heat high. I won't even try to throw an offspeed strike low bc they'll mash it.
Same with high heat, some guys smash that shit like low. I usually jam inside until someone can hit that. Then I jam outside for the same. Mix in a high here and there with a steady dose of off speed. I really enjoy pitching in the game but it’s no fun for me to consistently get one or two hits.
I don’t know what it is but ever since I started trying to locate the PCI, I definitely get into a bad habit of just smashing it down. Which is when I have to tell myself to just chill out and leave it in the middle which also helps me be way more patient/selective.
And when I’m pitching I try to just move all over the zone, and mix in all pitches while relying on the 2-3 that seem to be most effective. That’s why I like using Oswalt and Saberhagen because they can touch mid to high 90s but the breaking stuff is amazing and comes in at like 76-78 which keeps them off balance.
I do this too. I normally try to hold it like 2/3 down the zone. Not super low but a little lower than default so that every low pitch isn't a ground ball. Often times I'll accidentally mash it all the way down when I'm swinging. I get so mad at myself when I do it lol.
Yep, it’s like I get so hyped up to swing that my left thumb goes down when my right thumb hits X. I’ll get so mad at myself I’ll force myself to just hold the controller with one hand lol If I could just make it so my left stick stopped like 50% of the way I’d be alright.
lol, I just bought 5 headliner packs before logging off. Just wanted to see how bad of an investment that was. The best player I got was some 81 overall clown. That Bryant card was enticing.
Wish I could just stay at 450 in DD. So much more fun, especially when the other guy has 94 mph fastball with Whitley. The Stanton HR card is crazy. Hit another line drive to CF this time, barely got higher than the wall and it ended up being a single bc of how fast it got there and how hard it bounced back to the CF. He did hit one out though, another liner that just got a little higher.
Honestly, I don’t even care about playing the higher ranked guys it’s the difficulty change that is what gets me. Yeah I’d probably get beat by them either way, but at least I might be able to get a couple runs instead of feeling like I can’t get a hit without perfect/perfect swing result.
