Such a clean lift too.
Another great bench in the Paralympics. 683lbs.
Franco Colombu died. Arnold’s post is gonna get you feeling things.
fuck. i loved franco
Back is at like 85% 18 days post injury.
High Bar squated 2x this week with today being relatively heavy. Seems fine. Snatch doesn't really hurt.
The back angle on low bar seems to hurt the worst bc of how much more you stretch it/angle vs the hips... 90* vs something more acute
all time bad combos: farts and heavy squats
Garage gym wins again...
I’ve got some videos where you can see me under the bar trying to let one ease out before hitting my next rep
i had the room to myself. i just walked a lap and let it go. squats were fine
Just picked up my week pass at Big Tex. Was instantly reminded why I workout in my garage. I REALLY hope the morning crowd is different.
How you feeling?
Still good, at least for the heavy singles. Back off sets have been a little tiring, but it’s all getting lighter from here.
People always talk about proprioception after a heavy single, but I don’t feel it. My back offs are still heavy and tiring. Looking forward to hear how you do
Did suicide grip OHP for first time, didn't go heavy or anything but seemed like the weight moved better than it typically does. Gonna fuck with it for a while.
Nice little PR triple @ 305lbs then a 245 incline pin press. Good training day today
Squatted barefoot today. I liked it tbh. 500 for a breezy single
Glenn Pendlay died
Jeez everyone is dying
Took knee sleeves home to wash them.
Forgot to take them with me to gym
Feels so weird
I’m getting some camber arm attachments tomorrow. I ordered some chains and the Spud looper attachment. Conjugate here I come lol.
Maybe Donnie will be nice now
Hahahahaha. Poor guy.
Another thing I forgot about going to a gym...the distractions. Especially the chick with the thigh gap and light colored shorts doing good mornings...
On the plus side, maybe I'll actually get a spot for my bench, which I never have at home obviously. Programmed to hit 345, so getting a lift off would make it easier to set my back.
Mattie Rogers left Camargo and went to Catalyst. He handled it really well. Seems like a great guy
like after worlds?
Can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic... I don’t know the story.
Ate a box of Oreos last night, bulking season has officially started
No she’s being coached by Aimee now. She’s still training in his gym until after Worlds
No I’m serious. I don’t know what led to her deciding to leave, but he handled it very well. See his post below
Did a really easy 5x5 hex at 410 so decided I wanted to challenge myself and see how long I could hold it for. Got 45 seconds and nearly blacked out.
Got diagnosed with a femoral hernia yesterday
That's because it puts the bar more inline with the radius and ulna. Mimic the motion of holding a bar in the pressing position with your thumbs on the imaginary bar and then without them. See how your hand is more up and down when your have your thumb wrapped? Now notice how the bar sits directly over the distal process of the radius/ulna when your thumb is off the bar? It's called "joint stacking" and it puts your body in the most favorable position to lift heavy weights efficiently.
Watch any strongman worth his salt and you'll see that he never grips the bar with his thumbs wrapped (except for circus dumbbell). That's because you can press more without wrapping your thumbs. I've been using a thumbless grip on my OHP for almost 15 years and I've never had a single issue.
Fuck you killy
This was at my gym, walked in yesterday as he was doing a drop down set after this. Considering I’ve been going to this gym for almost 6 months and have yet to see him or his training partner bench (or any other conventional lift) I was really wondering what he worked up to lol.
Overhead pressed 205 today.
Anyone know if Worlds Strongest Man will reach out to me directly now or will I need to apply somewhere? TIA
Have already met most my goals for this year and shattered a few while having a sometimes dodgy diet and consuming too much alcohol, bench is really pissing me off though. Know it's a process but annoying.
Anyone do spoto presses and/or have a strong opinion about how best to do them?
Mark bell and candito do them completely differently so I was thinking I’d just trying both ways and seeing which I like more. I know Bell literally created the exercise but candito’s methods seem to translate better for natural lifters
Didn't see it mentioned but a new world bench press record and a dumbass spotter that decides to celebrate rather than do his job
yeah i couldn’t understand what he was doing. luckily the other dude rushed in quick
This taper week feels so weird. Last day of lifting before the meet isn't even supposed to get up to a whole plate on the bar.
I have a strong opinion in so far as a lot of people can benefit from them. I program them for 3-5 sets of 4-6 reps (have gone higher) with a 2 second pause. Mostly to really force staying tight and losing the stretch reflex at the bottom.
How is that a good lift? He didn’t rack it
thats why they appeal to me
I mainly do pause bench but I’ve noticed that I lose most of my tightness when the bar is on my chest. Think if I can do a better job of keeping lats engaged Itll be a big help
He got the rack command. Once you get that the lift is essentially over. Especially since it was a spotters mistake.
Lats engaged and keeping tension through your legs as well. That helps a lot
Started watching the first Eddie Hall documentary, great glimpse of what he went through to get to the top. Kinda like that E:60 with Thor.
I also had a good bench day for the first time in forever. Everything after was complete shit but I'll take it.
Once the timer starts after the bar is loaded, what is the clock counting down to? Is it until the lift “starts” (ie - you get the respective start command)? Or is it until you get the final rack command?
Is there any technical difference between meets with different names (qualifier, open, invitational, etc) or is it all just marketing?
Big Z at around 40 years old does a log press 3x with ease when Brian Shaw/Thor/Eddie Hall can't do it once. One of the craziest things I've seen. Damn good documentary.
1) you have 1 minute to begin the lift. So for the squat and bench you have to get it unracked and get the start command. Deadlift just start pulling.
2)no the names are all marketing. Only thing that matters is Regionals, Arnold, Nats, and Worlds
