Thanks. That’s what I had assumed.
465 for 5 “high bar” which is a nice PR and hands down the hardest set I’ve done in a while
Have been overhead pressing too much so decided to do klokov instead yesterday, possibly the worst idea I've had in some time. The pain is fucking real today.
bigjrock good luck tomorrow. Ready to see you break into the 500 squat club
Good luck bud
layne norton is high af in his latest gram post. lol
Good luck bigjrock
God really fucked up designing humans lower back. Cmon bud, you should have known better
It wasn't perfect, but it was overall a good day. They didn't use Lifting Cast, so I'm not sure what the final IPF score was or even my exact total.
475 opener felt good
501 on 2nd attempt felt good, but I got redlighted for depth, which has never happened before. There were a lot of red lights today, but most were earned so I'll assume mine was, as well.
Hitting 500 on squat was my biggest goal this meet, so I wasn't taking any chances. Stayed at 501 and SANK the damn thing to make sure I didn't get called for depth. Probably dropped too low because I felt awkward coming up and started leaning forward. Still hit the lift, but had a pain in my upper back the rest of the day. Screw it. I'm in the 500 club Capstone 88
Relatively uneventful. Hit 330-360-375 in succession. 375 took a little effort to lockout. Actually was worried my butt may have come off the bench but got 3 white lights.
500 opener flew up
530 (I think?) 2nd attempt was tougher than I expected
Went for 550 on the closer. This was the most effort I've ever expended at a single moment of time in my life. Entire body shook most of the way up. Got all the way up....and dropped the bar. I'm not exactly sure what happened, but I think it took so long to grind it up that I ran out of breath and kind of blacked out for a second standing up. I remember thinking I hit the lift and the next thing I remember the bar was on the ground and I was having to steady myself so I didn't fall over. I was PISSED. Then I thought I had a hernia or something because I had this pain in my taint was I left the platform.
7 for 9. Hit my squat and bench goals but missed the deadlift goal. I can feel that I'm going to be hurting for a while, my upper back feels tight as hell.
Squat - 501
Bench - 375
Deadlift - 530 (ish?)
Total - 1406 (ish?)
glad you hit some goals and didn’t die
Fuck yes dude. Sorry it didn’t go exactly as planned. Great call sticking with 501 on your squat. Onwards and upwards. That bench is insane.
Final results got posted:
227.5 kg (501 pounds)
170 kg (374 pounds)
240 kg (529 pounds)
637.5 kg (1,405 pounds)
Wow, that’s great, Big J. So I can feel more like a chump, what did you weigh throwing that weight around?
this week was planned perfectly to do my PR testing, and now i'm out of town starting Friday and have a wild next few weeks of bs. so, i'm stressing and anxious about how to fit in the test day and if I need these taper days this week. i feel and have had results already that show an improvement in strength. when i started Juggernaut almost 5 months ago I was just under 170, I weighed myself for the first time in a while last week and i was 185(i was bloated for sure).
oh, and i have two pairs of pants that I can comfortably wear and shorts season is rapidly ending.
What do you guys do for Deload weeks?
Same exercises but lighter.
I typically go from 5 days lifting for 3 weeks to around 3 on deloads, mix between about 70% of reps or weight.
Have a max week this week as well hoos, very confident in squat and deadlift thought my legs have had a rough month. OHP is 50/50 towards getting a max and my bench is fucking shit.
A great way to do it is similar to what Gunners & bigjrock said. One thing my coach has taken from Mike T is to do a pivot type week where you drop volume like mentioned, but you change exercises to give a bit of a mental break and the new stimulus *should* naturally reduce overall load on the bar to help remove that fatigue, the point of the deload.
So let’s say Mondays you’ve been doing 4x8 high bar at a high percentage or to something like an 8-9 RPE. Maybe the Monday of the deload/pivot you do a paused safety squat for 6s at a lower %/RPE. Let me know if that doesn’t make sense.
Bench Work today
Failed at 315
Were those 1 set each or did you break them up
One set each
This looks like a pretty awesome product and Klokov approved. Only $30.
How will this impact forearm size? Asking for a friend
there was a group of guys that used them around here for a while. these were also the guys who used the training face masks. and they used them on everything for about a month, lol. even shit like lat pulldowns and dumbbell rows.
I do like the big ol fat Hog Legs bars for lat pull downs.
Now I feel bad, thanks
sorry, it was the worst group of folks for me to see using something. it didn't seem gimmicky, just fell into the wrong hands.
I think those fat grips absolutely have a place in training. Especially back work and probably some warmup deads/extra grip work
Fat grips are awesome. They definitely work.
Lasha isn’t human
I couldn't snatch just the barbell and make it look that smooth.
That's just stupid
Not exactly sure what I did but right bicep has some red bruising, left bicep has been my achilles heel for a while. Still got a rep PR(after a failed 1 rep max) on OHP today but only pressing I'll be doing for at least a week.
Oh boy... incoming. 5-50 urethane set and the new stainless rackable curl bar. New stainless aggressive power bar shipping in a couple of weeks. Will get 60-100 DBs in 10 pound increments when they’re restocked.

All of Team USA has
Think Mattie will do well. but Wes is still recovering from Getting a cyst removed from his wrist. Im still excited to watch the next 4 days
My STrong knee sleeves have had a good run, but I think they are getting worn out. Thinking of trying some SBDs. Anybody got opinions?
hensleya Capstone 88
I actually just switched from STrong to the blue SBDs. I love them.
Edit: I sized down and they are tight and take a good tug to get them on
I’d go SBD.
Yep, gotta go upside down inside out then flip em and pulling out leg hairs to get them on
All the events from Arnolds Barcelona, Brian Shaw seems to be breaking down
Want to do conditioning? No of course not. But moving day is for the birds. And i think I lost 10 pounds.
Maybe, maybe not. He still has the drive to compete and has said that he'll retire once he's no longer having fun or becomes irrelevant. That said, he's the ultimate student of the sport and one of the smartest competitors the strongman world has ever seen. He saw how this year's WSM went and realized the direction the sport is going. He finally understood that he has to stop being big just for the sake of being big if he wants to evolve with the sport and win a 5th title. Hence, his cut to 400 lbs.
He's never had to cut before. As someone who has occasionally had to cut, I'd definitely say it effects my performance. Maybe he's cooked, or maybe his body is just making the adjustment to his lower bodyweight. Time will tell.
Went down a rabbit hole of watching the world championship replays, Lu Xiaojun is 1 cold blooded man. Guy couldn't train with a lower back injury and set a world record at 35. Chinese seem to run shit, at least in the lower weights.
Li wants that title, but Lu ain’t done yet. Guy hit a 206/452 cleans and jerk and just walked off knowing it wasn’t enough. Wild.
If one needs a belt, Pioneer starts a sale next week 10-20% off. Even the basic 8mm (great for casual lifting) belt is $64. Hop on it
