Finished in the top 20 so that’s good for SCAR standards. Had free playing time to sell to DTs and we whiffed on all the elite kids we went after. Going to have to be extremely lucky in the portal at DT and probably LB too. Don’t think anyone in this class has the skill/athleticism combo to help right away. Lots of these kids could be very good for us in 3-4 years, but do kids stay at one school that long anymore in the portal era?
Just saw that. Get a last hurrah before Dec 28. Hopefully it won’t be like Whig where it got stupid packed at the end and closed even earlier
Where will the College of Education have their meetings now?? (Professor told me they all call it the "Wardlaw Annex", haha)
Amazing to me that our team’s success is due almost entirely to the amazing defense our dc built, but it’s the white dude they go after, Whose primary source of offensive success is that his qb is untackleable behind the line of scrimmage.
I think I feel split on him leaving. He didn’t have a ton to work with at WR, but there were still open guys that were missed, especially earlier in the year. I think everyone can agree Sellers made him much better than he was. That entire game against Clemson was just sellers making magic. He’s far from the worst OC we’ve had recently. Hopefully Sellers can help lure a good OC.
Clowney finished fifth or sixth in the voting his Sophomore year. That was before “The Hit” as well. Ingram was more deserving of the accolades that year even if you concede his job was made a lot easier by all the attention blockers gave Clowney.
I wrote like 5 different responses, but none of them properly articulated the way I feel so I’ll just settle for saying that I’m mad that this season is just full of a bunch of “what ifs”
the good news is that it'll be ten years before we have a fun season again, so we'll get to think about it for like 3000 days
Been saying it for years. There was not a single team on our conference schedule this year that you would consider a "historic" rival
I actually think one of the most realistic avenues for getting olds and whites to understand the ills of capitalism is to force them to look at what it has done to college athletics
Juggsian research is telling me this is only the third national major award trophy won by one of our players. (Rogers Heisman 1980, Clowney Ted Hendricks 2012)
There were a few parts that got me. Pregame speech -- "We the biggest, we the strongest, we the most violent" On the headset before the Lanorris TD -- "Careful with the ball, we can come back and play defense. Oh! Oh! Oh! Ahhhhhhhhhhh!" Loggins: "He's an animal." Shula: "I've never seen anything like that." Before the final drive -- Calls the seniors on defense together. "This is why you came back." On the headset before the pick -- "Let's get a turnover and when this thing." [cuts to preseason training in the weight room]
-A lot of people are gonna go to the opener vs VT in Atlanta. It’d be a shame to lose that one. Praying the air doesn’t come out of the balloon right there. -Shot to start 5-0 going into a bye week…that’d be massive. -The three trouble games from this year are all together again. That’s a key stretch obviously. -A second bye going into November seems helpful. Overall I feel more optimistic looking at 2025 schedule than 2024. So conclusion, we’re absolutely fucked.
