B.) soon the fuckhead gangbangers won't even have to buy illegal guns because the Supreme Court is going to destroy what's left of my city's ability to regulate gun sales in this municipality
the gun wasn’t even fucking stolen. It was purchased legally. A fucking assault rifle. This is incredibly dumb shit and most of the country supports stronger measures regarding gun purchases. People who have the soap box need to constantly rail on republicans by name and harass them for answers as to why they have made zero attempt to make a difference in this fight to save children’s lives.

I’ve lived in Birmingham proper for 15+ years, 10 years on the Southside and the rest on the Westside (albeit inside a private well-secured liberal arts college) and I’ve never experienced or been witness to any gun violence. It certainly exists, and its unfortunate you and your friends had traumatic experiences related to gun violence while in Birmingham but I’d say those experiences are rare exceptions and not the rule.

as much as I typically despise cops, I don't think it's fair to ask anyone to split second assess a situation and make instantaneous life and death decisions against a shooter who is armed with a military weapon that can easily kill someone from 300 yards away. Like, you can't just start exchanging fire with someone near a school, particularly when you're armed with relatively inaccurate 9 mm handguns and the shooter has a military grade long gun. A squad of Airborne Rangers might not have been able to prevent what happened today. Meaning, I'm all on board with demilitarizing our police, but it's never going to happen as long as we have mass murders happening every week with men armed with guns that have 3,000 ft/s muzzle velocities. It's the guns.

Lots of volunteer firefighters who can't get benefits for all the cancers they're at risk of contracting and they end up dying in poverty from their medical bills. So no one publicly disparages firefighters, but they are perfectly fine letting them die bankrupt and in poverty from their lymphoma or mesothelioma bills.
