Lmao, what? That seems like a ploy to bill insurance. They just shot up my pecker or thereabouts. I didn't get any pills or anything else. It was fine.
A buddy of mine had his done with general, so I just followed his lead when scheduling. I've done more reading up on the procedure since then.
My doctors office also default to general anesthesia as they said the doctor just feels better without fidgeting or whatever. Just ask about other options. I ended up doing nitrous to relax me. Was a good time. but definitely do NOT need general anesthesia edit: I’ll add that maybe for some people who really don’t do well knowing something sharp is near them need more sedation. But generally speaking for pain if you’re ok with the idea similar to getting dental procedure done you should be ok with just local and maybe a relaxer whether a pill or laughing gas
My doctor prescribed a single hydrocodone to be brought to the procedure and taken when told to by the nurse, and then I had the option of local anesthetic or laughing gas. Being put under is completely unnecessary for most people.
We’ve overcorrected on pain pills so much. I got 60 Percocet with a refill for my wisdom teeth in 2005 - obvious malpractice. Now we give nothing for legitimate pain or one single Vicodin. Ridiculous. Giving me 10 Vicodin after a vasectomey, or some hycodon cough syrup when I have the flu, is not going to have me on the streets looking for smack next week.
I believe they will prescribe something for after the procedure, I honestly don’t remember what they said during the consult. I was just discussing what was offered to me leading up to it.
The worst part about my procedure was my wife being in the room for it. She’s in healthcare and the doc said she could come back if she wanted. Despite me mouthing “fuck no” she walked back with us and giggled the entire time as I was waiting for it to hurt. It never did. General would be way overkill
The pain from the procedure and recovery was very minimal for me. Smelling my testicles burning was psychologically unpleasant.
I waited the week my doctor said I should. Last two days was sporting a semi pretty much constantly and the first shot after waiting should by all rights have left a hole in my shower tile.
Recovery had been going well, but day 6 took a turn. Mega sore, kicked in the balls feeling starting in the afternoon, getting worse at night. No changes this morning. No real swelling, but I can see and feel exactly where the vas was cut, which is mainly where the pain is coming from.
I had some soreness that improved significantly when I was most diligent with wearing a jock strap. Not sure if you're already on that
I started with tighter boxer briefs thinking it would be the same as a jock, but it was night and day for me
Yes. Dr. Shrid. https://www.erlanger.org/find-a-doctor/details?id=142 He was great. Had my consult with his partner in September and procedure done end of January so I’d go ahead and call and at least get a consult scheduled. For the procedure they offered gas, but I didn’t get anything and it wasn’t awful. Just uncomfortable with your junk hanging out. Recovery was pretty easy. I rested for 24 hours and took it easy the next 2 weeks. Started lifting my 3 and 5 year olds within a week and our 8mo within 3-4 days. I just tried not to over exert myself. I had very limited swelling after the procedure. My buddy had it done and felt great after two weeks. He went to CrossFit and over-exerted it and his sack swelled up to the size of a grapefruit. I’m waiting a full month before I get back to working out haha. He utilizes “the “no-scalpel” technique that requires no sutures be placed, leading to an excellent cosmetic outcome.” Instead of going in two places on each side, he just went in the center and made one puncture. I’ve got a nice half inch scar which to be frank is shockingly small considering my perception of what he was doing.
Getting jocks is absolutely the way to go. Keep those things hiked up as much as possible and continually ice on and off and you'll be fine. General anesthesia for a vasectomy is insane and definitely not needed at all. Unless you run really anxious, I don't think anything really needs to be taken. As someone else said, the most uncomfortable part of the whole thing is the burning smell but it isn't really that awful. You know what you're going there for.
9 days out and balls are feeling much better. Day 6 sucked - I think I overdid it that morning/afternoon. Day 7 was a little better, and felt pretty good all of day 8. Jock Strap definitely helps and is actually comfy. Holds them up nice but doesn’t compress them in, which I think was a problem with the briefs I had been using.
Had mine in December. Nitrous was nice and worth it, but I felt like a buffoon huffing on it and trying to make small talk with the doctor who is in my balls. If you go the nitrous route then I would suggest waiting around a while afterwards or getting a ride home. They said I was fine to drive home after 30 minutes, but I should not have been on the road that soon. The worst part of the procedure is the injection in your nutsack, but it isn't that bad (doctor said it was like a bee sting but it felt a worse than that). I couldn't feel anything after that except a little tugging on the tubes. It started to hurt about 2 hours afterwards and I was sore for about 8 days, but nothing intense. After that everything was back to normal. Just got my no sperm results back about a week ago.
Exact same as me pretty much (although I’m not to my test yet). But the ride home after I was thinking there was no way I should drive. I was still loopy for a couple hours. Thankfully my wife did drive me but they also said I could drive myself.
My coworker who has three girls just got cut. His wife tested positive on a pregnancy test the day before he was supposed to go for his final test. He’s not real happy right now but hoping he finally gets a boy.
Brutal. My wife is on bc but I was still sweating bullets until it was confirmed that I had broken myself
I met a guy at neighborhood Super Bowl party who used the same doc as me. He failed first 3 tests in 6 months. Decided not to get retested and got his wife pregnant 18 months later. She miscarried and was obviously not happy. He went back and told him it didn’t work - doc was shocked and redid it this past December for free.
Doctor was a damn barner. Said he was taking auburn to win it all. I said please jinx that shit! overall not a bad 15 minutes. Home on the couch now with enough hydrocodine to get me thru Alabama and Kansas hoops this weekend
Wonder if she'll pop into the delivery room for the birth of your next kid and give you a little "war eagle"
No more pull out for you. Congrats my friend. I'm getting tested in 26 days. My wife is both excited and not at the same time
