Sorry, only saw a bunch of fairly gimmicky RSD releases and about 50 copies of the CSNY record that can be found used for like $5 at any shop in the world.
went ahead and grabbed a blood on the tracks from discogs those versions of idiot wind, simple twist of fate, and tangled up in blue
I wasn’t able to get out today, which sucks. One thing our best shop did is hide one random “high dollar” album in the stacks for $1.
I didn’t know about Sho Is Funky Down Here until about 3 or 4 years ago and I fucking love it. Psych-rock, funk. Nothing else really like that from JB. Almost like a Funkadelic album.
Is anyone's local stores doing online selling? I found one on disccogs in CT but I'm going to see if any of my local places are before I buy from out of state.
have a buddy that does lots of online auctions if you can’t find local. Great dude and cool shop. https://www.facebook.com/marleysmusicbiloxi/
Also they will find you anything you want.. lots of contacts in the vinyl industry and huge music nerds. New and used
Most of the stuff I'm looking for right now are gonna be new releases that shouldn't be hard to find I would think. There are some old originals I'm sure that will come to mind too.
They’ll get it for you and have lots of new stuff Probably have lots of record day stuff too. They opened about a month ago. terrible time to open a new business, but they are making it work
Get ready to spend more time in record shops than you ever thought possible. Once they are opened back up of course.
mine has been doing ~20 minute Facebook live videos every day at 2 and you then you call your order in. it’s been one of the highlights of my day every day https://m.facebook.com/papajazzrecordshoppe/ Jax Teller they have a discogs too
Following your local shops on IG/FB is definitely the way to keep up with them and many are providing means to "shop" like that as well. Hell, not even just local. A lot of them will ship to you.
Thanks guys. I checked the discog sites for a couple of our local spots and they didn't have what I was searching for. One of their websites said to call the store during the week when the owner is in there and ask him to find what you're looking for. May try that or may try some of the links y'all shared. Haven't added anything new to the collection in awhile so I got that itch again.
Also, I have the Audio Technica 120-USB. Any budget ways to hook wireless speakers up to it? Tired of only being able to listen to records in the living room.
Comeback Vinyl in Georgia is one of my favorite shops, and they're putting most all of their new and used records online. https://www.comebackvinyl.com
create a discogs account and use their marketplace. you can find anything you’re after and I’ve always had good experiences i’ve had good luck ordering from amoeba too. obv fuck amazon
Its only connections are the line out (RCA) and USB right? So the player itself can't do it, but if you had either connection plugged into something that has BT, then you'd be set. Sorry if I'm stating the obvious. You can search for a Bluetooth audio transmitter if you don't want to connect the player to a BT enabled laptop for example.
recent pickups james brown: say it (im black im proud) uncle tupelo: anodyne sterolab: emperor tomato ketchup digable planets: blowout comb obv that james brown hits. anodyne is a classic. those sterolab reissues are super nice. duc15 you’d dig that digable planets
few more ron gallo: stardust birthday party rapsody: eve daniel johnston: chicago 2017 freddie gibbes and madlib: bandana
Yea I'll need something to plug into from the player. I've read that bluetooth doesn't sounds as good as using wifi speakers.
Pretty easily found a bluetooth transmitter to plug into my player. Really wish I could find a way to make wifi work because I keep reading that the wifi sounds better than BT. I reckon this will work for now. When we buy/build a house we are going to have speakers throughout so I can do this more easily.
Also wound up ordering Sound & Fury and Sailor's Guide to Earth from a store in CT. It was the first shop that I could easily find the albums. Already shipped and on the way to me. Next albums I'm going to try and have my local shop find or hit up the ones y'all recommended. But at least I was able to support a local shop and not Amazon.
Yea I just want the option to like take the speakers outside or something when I want. Will still have them hooked up regularly most of the time.
I'm guilty of this, too, just trying to do too much. It's like, I know this can be done...but am I going to use it enough to warrant the cost/effort? Most of the time the answer is no, but that doesn't stop me from wanting it anyway.
The good folks at End of All Music in Oxford, MS are doing a thing where you send them X-amount of dollars, tell them bands or genre's you like and/or dislike, and they'll pick out some records for you and ship them to you. Good dudes there who know their stuff and always have strong recs.
papa jazz is doing this too. mine arrived today via the us postal service common - resurrection isaac hayes - the isaac hayes movement earth, wind, and fire - open our eyes stevie wonder - the original musiquarium eddie kendricks - eddie kendricks
Anyone else want to share their setup? Always cool seeing what people do. We have a formal dining room in our house that we’d never use so made it into a sitting room with the record player and a small bar.
they really did. gave them a $40 budget and told them to hook it up with anything stax/tamla/motown/enterprise and that’s what they came up with.
Audio Technica has a really good range of affordable turntables. I have one with a Marshall Stanmore speaker setup, which looks pretty sweet, sounds good, and will also play Bluetooth.
To echo, wes tegg, go on Audio Technica’s site and get one of their models that’s under ~$150. I’ve had one of those models for going on a decade now with no problems whatsoever.
yea the audiotechnica is perfect for your first setup. I started off with the lp120. have a pro-ject debut carbon now and can highly recommend.
