Nickal and Snyder both got deducted a team point for throwing headgear. Lame
So the whole basis of this past is because kemerer got hurt in one match, that he definitely would have gotten hurt against Micah? Dude.
Michigan’s coach retired yesterday. I would hope that there would be a lot of interest in the job.
Gonna be fun watching Lee and Yianni Diakomihalis the next 3 years. Yianni's cradle was awesome and Lee was ridiculous all tournament. Pleasantly surprised by Iowa's 3rd place finish.
Tosu wrestlers only beat one wrestler seeded higher than themselves? McKenna?
It should (and will) be Sean Bormet.
He’s the driving force behind the programs success.
Hard to beat guys seeded higher than you when you are seeded very highly.
Zain Retherford, Bo Nickal, Mark Hall also failed to beat anyone seeded higher than them.
Sounds like a Tan Tom Ryan excuse
And 2 if those guys were #1 seeds and won. The other lost to a #1 in the finals. One win seems low, regardless of seeds.
Congrats bucs. Next year is your year. Might as well take the trophy now.
This is a very bad post
Nods head. Haven't seen a meltdown this bad since Saturday
Joseph looks a lot taller on the mat. Gotta be pretty short to make that weight with his body.
Dude is a monster, like him a lot.
I know what you mean so how tall is IMar?
It seems he would be shorter?
What’s Darmstadt? 6’4?
IMar might be an inch or 2 taller but Joseph matches his strength at least
Darmstadt was a 197, Moore seemed to handle the lanky guys with ease while the shorter rocks beat him up. He needs to get his motor back, hopefully we can compete his senior year.
Quality is terrible but it was the only one I could find.
Watching that bo pin again. It's so incredible and subtle, but martin almost never had a chance. Martin had a good initial shot, but Bo went to his back on purpose and tried to hit the elevator. The only place bo messed up was he didnt land on his back well, but Martin had no idea what to do, and frankly wasn't in control as much as it seemed in real time. You can say Martin fucked up, but it's less about his fuck up, and more about Bo just being a better wrestler and having more mat awareness.
I may not be a wrestling expert but at thinking Bo went to his back on purpose
I'm sure he saw Martin's head down then in that half second said, I'm gonna get taken to my back and will get the cement mixer and will pin him. Sure.
Is this a serious post, or are you trolling?
Just trying to make sure I respond to correctly to this.
If serious: You're an idiot and know nothing about wrestling
If trolling: See above
Bo definitely went to his back on purpose. He was trying to cement mixer Martin, but didn’t have the leverage (at first) to do it. What I would like to know is: did Bo let go of the original hold to bait Martin to push in to get the leverage back or was it pure luck?
Bo said he tried to bail because he didn’t have his feet to hit the elevator at first. He let go of the head and everything. He clearly was trying to hit it as he was being taken down. You can see him adjusting his hold to attempt it. I mean how else do you hit an elevator without intentionally going to your back. Unless he does some matrix shit.
Martin had him locked up and Bo couldn’t bail so Bo readjusted instantaneously and hooked the head and chin and had one leg fully under him to hit the elevator as Martin was trying to settle.
There was no baiting or trapping. Bo was out of his first option, bailing, so he went to option 2. It was just some luck, Martin being very aggressive (don’t blame him) and just someone willing to go for broke in a national final.
Bo is one of those guys that can generate leverage from anywhere similar to dylan ness and his gator bacon stuff.
No way. That isn't someone who went intentionally to their back to hit a move...can't be.
It's okay, I didn't see it either until FrankReynolds and yesman broke it down for me on the telestrater.
Congrats Bucks on your theoretical team title!
GGCD and any other bucs that didn't think bo was intentionally going for the elevator. This is a good breakdown and basically echos what FrankReynolds and yesman showed me on the replay. Great step by step breakdown
FILM ROOM: Bo Nickal's Fall
I haven't chimed in on this "argument" as I think you're both arguing the same thing.
I wouldn't call it "intentional" as much as I would "instinctual".
I certainly do not believe Bo intended to go to his back against Myles Martin, considering Myles has hit 6 point moves the only two times he's beaten him.
Nickal is amazing, everyone knows that. He was prepared for the moment and executed what he has been trained to do. I don't think part of that plan was to be on his back against Myles Martin, but shit happens. He obviously felt it, went for it, and got the fall.
I don't think anyone is arguing that he ended up on top of Myles by accident or chance, if that's what you think.
But if you think that was the plan all along, you're actually nuts. Just Nickal being an elite instinctual wrestler.
If you check the link you can see the thought process. It doesn't go as planned though so he has to bail and is able to go for it again when they're both on the mat.
so now that dominance has been established... why was desanto not DQ'd from the tournament?
And how do you not suspend him some matches next year? Kid is very clearly not mentally healthy enough to step on the mat.
His last match was right in front of my seat Saturday. I enjoyed watching him cry to his corner before SV and after losing. Kept yelling at his coach like it was their fault.
His match against Micic was so strange....the dude is bizarre.
We were ringside for that. I don't know if I can recall a meltdown like that on the mat. He has to have a mental condition of some type. i think Stevis_In_C-Bus alluded to it previously.
Eastern Michigan dropping wrestling
Attributed to Jeff Byers, PSU radio guy: Bo was in the locker room before his finals match against Martin and said "I think I’m going to let him take me down a few times in the first and second period. Then he’ll be tired out by the third period and I’ll pin him"
Cael, without looking up, "Let’s find another plan".
Bo being bo GGCD Gunners
Zain Retherford accrued a ridiculous 93 points at NCAAs over his 4 years, finishing in a three-way tie with no-namers Kyle Dake and Alex Dieringer for 8th most of all time.
Kyle Snyder finished with 89 points at NCAAs, 13th most of all time.
1. Cael Sanderson 107.5
2. Logan Stieber 103.5
3. Ed Banach 102.5

sounds legit man
For the record, Spencer Lee scored 27 points at NCAAs.
If he does that 4x, he will end with 108 points at NCAAs, the most of all time.
Conor Brady to VT. Big time pull for the Hokies.
Another big "get" out of Ohio for them.
Did he not make state finals, was checking results for the big names and didn't see him.
Been a lot of talk about us going hard after Kharchilava, big fan of his.
Was wondering about that after your last post.
Saw that but had no reference if it was good. Really hope VT can stay as a top 10 program. I would think the addition of the RTC makes that possible.
Not only was Cael the all time point leader, as the coach of Penn State he's literally won every team title he's tried for. 7 of 9 with 2 years of red shirting all the studs.
Illinois wrestler Francis Edelen, who started two years ago as a true freshman, was killed in a car accident last night. Very sad stuff, seemed like a good kid.
ESPN doing a great job of showcasing college wrestling
Pretty big "get" for Michigan. Guessing this means Storr goes 141 next year and Silva redshirts assuming Storr is eligible. Michigan going to be a top squad next year, maybe top 3 overall.
Still thinking about Michigan. They are going to be really, really good.

Michigan could win a team title in 2020.
Yianni Diakomilhalis tore his ACL in his second match at NCAAs.
No big deal, just went ahead and won the damn thing.
What a freakin amazing human being
Coach Bono from SDSU going to Wisconsin.
Really think this elevates Wisconsin to the top half of the conference. Won't necessarily be PSU-Iowa-OSU good, maybe not Michigan-Nebraska quite yet, but I think they could get there with Bono. That would have been my #1 choice for them but I didn't see him leaving to be honest. He's joining a strictly worse team in Wisconsin.
