John Moreland is the definition of self destructive.

 

Iirc, he's bipolar as fuck and battles depression extremely bad. I remember seeing him in 2016 in front of a packed house and he looked miserable as all fuck. I couldn't help but thinking that he was bringing so many people joy while visibly hating every second of it.

 

Was thinking about Doug Moreland reading these and got so confused. Don't think I've ever heard any John Moreland stuff

i figured this beef was Oklahoma stuff. never loved Moreland so much, or heard anything that led me to a deep dive.

 

High on Tulsa Heat is probably one of my favorite albums of the past decade-ish.

have been looking forward to this. the early releases are my favorite songs tho, Flannel Cowboy, Coyote(w John Moreland), and Days Getting Darker.

New McMurtry album is very enjoyable.

I think the new JRW was heavily influenced by him coming out relatively fine (when I saw him live a few months ago he said it'll take years to truly be in the clear but all was looking positive) from cancer so it's more upbeat, Jimmy Buffett-influenced I believe he said. Definitely different.
